Having pony rides at a party or fair, people enter a psychological "bubble" of fun
People don't want to ruin the magic (or the money they spent) by acknowledging the unpleasant reality that the pony is hot and tired.
People assume that because me ( the operator) are a professional, I wouldn't let my pony suffer.
People outsource the moral responsibility to the handler.
If the rides are being offered, they assume "it must be safe."

This is our moment to champion the welfare of ponies above profit or pleasure.
