Our Aboriginal calendars have rolled into new seasons!

Nyoongar Country is now in Kambarang, the season of wildflowers 🌸 Kangaroo paws, acacias, orchids and balgas are all bursting into bloom.

In our North, the Yawuru calendar has entered Laja (hot season). Bringing very warm days with high humidity, flowers are abundant and turtles will start to lay their eggs on the beaches 🐢

It’s heating up across the State, so no matter where you are in WA make sure you’re prepared:

🌻Welcome to Wirlburu!

Locals and visitors in our North will be enjoying the shift from the cool to hot season this month. Keep an eye out for the yellow flowers of the wild pear beginning to bloom and the many species of cockatoos will have had their chicks.

Both the days and nights are heating up, which we have seen reflected in the growing number of bushfires. With over 250 bushfires in our Pilbara and Kimberley regions since 1st July, it’s a good time to think about your bushfire plan -

Guess the pressure was down because it's raining y'all! 🌧

My whole July was amiss; how did it end up like this?

During this lockdown I have one more thing to ask of you.

These are tough times for small businesses, so today, tomorrow – if you can – please support your local small businesses.

Whether it's grabbing a coffee after your daily exercise, getting take-away, or ordering in for dinner tonight - your patronage will mean so much to these small businesses and their staff.

Thank You WA!!🤲🤗

Big news today for thousands of WA venues: this Wednesday Western Australia will proceed to Phase 5 of eased restrictions, and remove all COVID-related capacity limits.

That means that all venues will be allowed to return to 100% of their pre-COVID capacity, and all major events will be able to occur with no limit on size or crowds.

Venues will still be required to maintain contact registers and use the SafeWA app and have COVID Safety Plans in place. COVID Event Plans will also still be required for major events.

This change follows updated health advice, and means that Western Australia will continue to lead the way in having some of the lightest restrictions in the world.

It’s another big step, and it will mean a lot to many local businesses who’ve worked hard to keep going through challenging conditions over the past 15 months.

Our controlled interstate border, and the international hard border, will remain in place – and are once again essential for allowing us to ease these restrictions within our State.

While we’re confident that we can safely take this step, it’s crucial that Western Australians continue to do the right thing, so that if COVID-19 does make its way into our State we remain ready.

That means exercising good personal hygiene, signing in when you visit a venue, staying home if you are unwell and getting tested if you have symptoms of COVID-19.

It’s also crucial that every Western Australian gets vaccinated when they are eligible – it remains our best way out of this pandemic.

This is an exciting step for our State – and is only possible because of everyone’s hard work throughout this pandemic.

Once again: thank you WA.
