We understand that these measures are currently being discussed, with the hope that they may be reinstated soon. The bride's parents flew over from Ireland for their annual holiday in Perth. They were surprised by the news that they were to be the only guests (and witnesses) at a Wedding on Scarborough Beach 2 days later... ⛱️ 💥💕
The weather was perfect 🌻

Heading to Chinta Cafe in North Perth, for another simple, legal Marriage for a couple who will have their Bali Wedding later this year. One partner is Indonesian and the other is Australian, but it is much simpler to have the legal paperwork taken care of here in Perth. I will then help them with the process of having their marriage registered in Bali later.
Chinta always looks after Elopements and Mobile Registry Weddings so well. Usually they provide a quiet space when they can. And oh, did I mention - the food is awesome!

This morning's legal Marriage Ceremony for a gorgeous couple from Indonesia. It's so simple to have a legal, non religious Marriage here in Perth, that many couples now come here for the ceremony before spending time here on honeymoon afterwards.
Everything was prepared for this wedding, via email, so that we could arrange the Marriage on Day 2 of their holiday. Congratulations to them both (no names due to discretion) and a huge thank you to Chinta Cafe in North Perth for always being so generous with your time and space. ❤️
Sometimes the couple only want coffee and cake, but this morning we celebrated with a small banquet afterwards!

Getting married in the 'old' ways might be outdated, but in fact I think Marriage is now better than ever, because it's a choice that couples freely make, more often than due to parental or peer pressure.

About 29 per cent of people who participated in the Australia Talks survey think marriage is an outdated institution, with a higher proportion of women (33 per cent) feeling this way compared to men (24 per cent). MORE: https://ab.co/2R3hT5J

And younger women are more likely to think it's outdated — 43 per cent of those aged 18-39 agreed, compared to 13 per cent of the over-75s.

Young women's views have also shifted since 2019.

Among those aged 18-29 there has been an 11-percentage-point increase in the belief that marriage is outdated. For those in the 30-39 age bracket, it's a 10-point jump.

Across the board, just over half of all respondents — 51 per cent — disagreed that marriage is outdated and the remaining 20 per cent were either neutral or answered "don't know".

HOW DO I CHANGE MY NAME IF I CHOOSE TO DO SO?
"Any person who marries in Australia may choose to assume their spouse's surname. This is done as a matter of custom, not law. A certified marriage certificate issued by an Australian Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages is usually sufficient evidence to have personal documentation changed to a married surname.
If you were married overseas, you may have to register a formal change of name with the Registry before your married surname is accepted by some organisations.
If you wish to revert back to your maiden name (surname at birth or after adoption), there is no legal requirement for a formal change of name, however, to avoid difficulties with obtaining recognition of your maiden name, registration of the change is recommended."

Mobile Registry Weddings is probably the first choice for many couples looking for simple midweek, legal ceremonies here in Perth. (prices start at $300 including all necessary legal documentation.)
For a truly MOBILE Registry Wedding though, this might appeal?
If you had been planning something different for your Wedding Day (perhaps an Elopement or an Overseas Wedding, but your plans had to change) maybe you can still have something 'outside the box'?

I have just returned from Coral Bay and saw how much wonderful it could be to have a Wedding and Honeymoon in this part of the world. The north west is full of gorgeous fun people to hang out with and lots of great eating and meeting places. And if you prefer more quiet spaces, there are lots of isolated areas for 'alone time'.
The young 'couple' below with me, are not actually a couple ;) They are the guides for Coral Bay Ecotours. Kane is a wonderful underwater guide and Naomi is also a guide, plus an awesome Underwater Photographer. Imagine this..... you could exchange your Marriage Vows on the boat deck and then slide into the water for that 'First Kiss' under the sea, perhaps surrounded by coral and turtles! :) 'could make for some incredible photos!

Below is a full explanation of the 3 main types of ceremonies that I can arrange and conduct for you, with Prices and Descriptions.

REGISTRY STYLE CEREMONY.
For less than 10 guests. A brief ceremony. Often used by couples having their “Wedding Day” event at another time or place, such as overseas. This service also allows couples to have a friend or family member to be ‘celebrant’ on the day of their non-legal “Wedding Day”. This is an increasingly popular option – particularly since Covid restrictions affecting families during this time. I can come to you and conduct a fully legal ceremony anywhere.... whether that’s at home, or at the beach, or in a café or pub – completely your choice. You would still have the opportunity to include personal vows, words and readings if you wish.
Usual Price Range within Perth:
Weekday Ceremony. Monday – Friday from 7am- 8pm. $300- $400 (For Registry Style Ceremony at weekends, please ask for a separate quote.)

SIMPLER, TAILORED CEREMONY.
I write a ceremony for you, with some personal touches, but not as long as the Fully Personalised Ceremony described below. You would also have the opportunity to include personal vows, words, readings and songs of your choice.
Usual Price Range within Perth:
Weekend Afternoon Ceremony. $550 - $650
Morning Ceremonies: less 5%
Fridays: less 10%
Monday – Thursday less 15%

FULLY PERSONALISED CEREMONY.
I ‘interview’ each of you, by means of a personal questionnaire so that, using your answers, I can weave elements of “Your Story”, throughout the ceremony on the day. I will ask you questions such as: how you view your future together; what your dreams are; what your family and friends mean to you; what it is you see in the other person that makes them perfect for you; what has made this relationship so special etc - that will help me to create a picture of you and give your guests the background to your story. You would also have the opportunity to include personal vows, words, readings and songs of your choice.
Usual Price Range within Perth:
Weekend Afternoon Ceremony. $650 - $800
Morning Ceremonies: less 5%
Fridays: less 10%
Monday – Thursday less 15%

All the above prices include completion and lodgement of necessary legal documentation.

A legal Presentation Marriage Certificate will be given to you on the day of your Marriage. However, many couples also require an extra Official Certificate from Office of Births, Deaths and Marriages, which is currently $50. You can apply to the BDM for this yourself, or I am happy to apply on your behalf as an additional service. (I don't charge for this.)

Here is Mobile Registry Weddings - using a truly mobile Signing Table! 😉
You might notice that I don't have reviews or photos of couples on this page? This is because many of our Registry Style Ceremonies are for couples who want to have the legal paperwork completed separately to their Wedding Celebration Day.
Many couples are now having 2 ceremonies - one is the day they walk down the aisle and exchange vows and rings, with family and friends present, to witness and celebrate this special day with them. The other ceremony is often conducted separately, to complete the legal part of the Marriage, with only the couple present, so that the Australian Legal Marriage Certificate can be obtained. Therefore, discretion is often very important! :)
Today's gorgeous and romantic ceremony was a bit of a mixture of the two - with the groom's parents and his brothers present, but the bride's sister being the only family present from her side. However the bride's parents joined via WhatsApp from Sydney.
Some beautiful words were spoken and a few tears shed - even though the ceremony was short and sweet, it was very moving. The "Real Wedding Celebration" will be held at another time, when the borders open and families can be reunited.

Hello everyone! It’s so sad to here that more weddings are being postponed again! My big day of over 180 guests was ment to happen on July 17th but cancelled also! However we went ahead with our day with just family at home! I can honestly say it was the BEST day of my entire life!! I wanted the big wedding to but I could have never got the memories that we built this day out of a big wedding! It was so personal and relaxed! I did my own make up and hair with my sister beside me! Instead of my husband and kids seeing me for the first time coming down the isle, we organised a first viewing in the garden before we left for the ceremony. My nieces played music. We got pictures, had dinner, our first dance, played a game of bingo, mr and mrs and theme song challenge boys Vs girls, and personalised trophy’s for prizes! We danced the night away. And we hope next year we will have a sand ceremony and a big party on our year anniversary. Just taught I would share my perfect COVID wedding! Magic can happen and family are always there to help!! X

I am off to Frasers Restaurant in Kings Park, shortly to conduct a small ceremony in the restaurant, before the couple and their 4 guests sit down to a lovely meal overlooking the city. For various reasons, this wedding has taken 4 years to organise - but it will be worth the wait for this lovely couple..
