Ceremony on the Hill 🌳

Admiring all the details of this beautiful ceremony spot in the South-West, set amongst the vast, rolling paddocks of .farm.estate ✨

All seasonal, locally grown & foam-free flowers for Jessica & Stephen in September 💐

Including a few sneaky set-up shots snapped when she found me adding all the final touches ✂️

Guests are driven through the gates, bumbled along the paddock paths and up to the ceremony location to admire the views from the back of the farm’s tractor trailer 🚜

Such a charming little venue- we absolutely loved working here! 🥰🫶

Birak & Bunuru (Summer) wedding bouquet inspiration ☀️🌿🌸

If you’re getting married in summer and not in an air-conditioned space, we recommend choosing Aussie-grown natives & proteas, naturally dried flowers, or a combination of both fresh and dried 🌾💪

This will ensure your bouquet looks happy and lush for the whole day 💐

I feel so lucky to be able to work with our native flora– one of the few fresh blooms that can withstand our harsh summers!

(If you’re having an indoor ceremony with AC we’re happy to discuss other flower options, too– get in touch 🌷)

**Please Note- proteas are not in season during peak summer and can be very difficult to source. It’s always best to discuss your flower preferences with your florist and plan for substitutes.

“Hey Tara, where do your flowers come from?”

I’m always happy to answer this question! 💐

Here at Euka, we ALWAYS prioritise using local / Australian-grown blooms. This means:

🧡 We’re supporting our local economy by purchasing from local farms and small businesses

🌏 We’re reducing our carbon footprint by cutting travel emissions compared to imported flowers

We only ever use imports as a last resort, such as when there is not enough local product available or unforeseen supply issues. In this scenario, we’ll substitute with imports in order to fulfil our clients brief & vision and uphold the quality & signature design style of our work.

Shout out to all the amazing local, micro-flower farms in Australia who help make supporting local easier and easier! Thank you 🫶

Special mention to these local WA flower farms:

A moment for the wildflower hair combs and flower crowns 👑🌼

I love making flower hair accessories for our weddings– there’s something so magical about having a crown of flowers upon your head ✨

We use 100% natural, locally sourced flowers, and our crowns and hair accessories can either include fresh or naturally dried flowers (or a mixture of both) depending on your preferences 💐 Plus you can dry them at home after your big day and have them as a keepsake for years to come 🫶

KAMBARANG - Flowering season! 🌼🌷

October marks the start of this new season in the Noongar calendar, where we continue to see the explosion of flowers in the South & Mid West, especially the yellow acacias and balgas.

As it gets warmer later this month and into November, keep an eye out for the bold orange flowers of the Moojar (Australian Christmas Trees) too 🧡

Our photo above features a waratah- they only have a short flowering season so are pretty special!

Here are some native and locally-grown flowers you can expect to find in our bouquets and floral arrangements this time of year:

NATIVE WILDFLOWERS 🌾
Waratah (October), Kangaroo Paw, Banksias, Berzelia, Flannel Flowers, Strawflower, Grevillea, Geraldton Wax, Kunzea, Sago, Tea Tree, Verticordia, Myrtle, Scholtzia

OTHER LOCALLY GROWN FLOWERS 💐
Proteas (King Proteas especially!), Leucadendron, Leucospermum Pin Cushion, Canterbury Bells, Chincherinche, Delphinium, Lavender, Larkspur, Ranunculus, Stattice, Chamomile Daisy, Peony, Queen Anne’s Lace, Snapdragon, Stocks, Sunflowers, Poppies, Scabiosa, Chrysanthemum

Check out our calendar for the full list, available to download for FREE on our website if you haven’t already 🥳🗓️

Shout out to all the amazing, talented florists who are already using more sustainable options! 🫶

One block of floral foam contains the same amount of plastic as TEN shopping bags and it can’t be recycled 🚮

It easily crumbles and breaks down into micro-plastics, which often end up in our waterways and oceans 🌏😔

The good news is that there are already so many great alternatives out there, with more options being explored and becoming available on the market ♻️

Our go-to is usually re-usable chicken wire with fresh water in ceramic pots / vases or used in conjunction with re-usable water vials & natural moss for large-scale, suspended designs 💐

Florists and DIYers, I’d love to hear what you use! Leave a comment and let’s normalise our sustainable mechanics.

Any questions? I’m always happy to have a chat, simply send us a DM! 📥

To get the most out of your blooms, we recommend repurposing your flowers from the ceremony to the reception venue– Check out our Story to see how Renae & Matt repurposed their flowers on their big day ✨

If this is something you’re interested in for your upcoming event, please ask!

We can recommend the types of arrangements that create the most impact for all aspects of your event work behind the scenes to build, pack down, transport and re-design your blooms at two separate locations on your big day (pending logistics) 🌼💪
