Drummond’s wattle, acacia drummondii lindl, has bloomed in several places around our Peace Patch this year. The delicate blooms with their bold colour really are trying to convince me that spring is actually here!!! 🌱 Seedlings for Landcare – Apply Now!

The Seedlings for Landcare Program is back for 2025, helping our community restore and protect our beautiful local environment.

Through the program, around 20,000 local native seedlings — more than 50 species of trees, shrubs, groundcovers, herbs and rushes — will be available to support projects such as:
🌳 Revegetating creek lines
🦉 Providing habitat for wildlife
🌿 Increasing tree canopy in rural areas

Who can apply?
✔ Residents or ratepayers with rural-zoned properties over 4000sqm (for revegetation)
✔ Catchment or Friends Groups, schools, and other organisations undertaking revegetation on nature reserves or school grounds within the Shire

How to apply:

📄 Hard copy forms are available at the Shire Administration Building, libraries and the Mundaring Visitor Centre

Hurry — applications close 4pm, Friday 26 September 2025.
Seedlings will be collected in May 2026.

I’ve added a Silver Princess, Eucalyptus Caesia, to our Peace Patch. It’s Book Week and I have a story for you.
My Mum and our neighbour Jenny spent considerable time creating Snugglepot and Cuddlepie costumes for our Book Week parade, when Katherine and I were about 8, which featured leaves and blossoms from their Silver Princess tree. These clever mums sewed little olive cotton skirts that were overlayed with gum leaves from crepe paper and we had necklaces and flower crowns from the Silver Princess. We wore our ballet tights and skivies and I’m quite sure we were the best dressed!
I’m very excited to now have a Silver Princess here and looking forward to her blooms.
Thankyou to all the mums and nannas that have whipped up those memorable costumes this last week🥰

Just plant the flowers you’d love to see and use!
With a change in the weather, a trip to the local nursery and a little bit of digging in the coffee rock, we now have two more flowering bushes on the north side of my Fleur de Juste studio.
The cages are to give them a chance from being demolished by our native fauna.

This White Bunny Orchid, Eriochilus dilatatus Lind., was discovered this afternoon on a walk through our bush on the northside of the property. It’s so wonderful to still be discovering new flowers here. Looking forward to this season of fabulous blooms.
