Jackadder’s Music Club was named after a nearby lake in Woodlands. It is around 8 klms north of the Perth CBD. Jackadder’s is part of the West Australian Folk Federation. Carmel Charlton and husband Eric Hancock have been running the club since its inception in 2003. There is a great variety of both professional and amateur performers taking part and often young upcoming performers are included in
the afternoon’s line-up. It is a great opportunity for like-minded musicians to network, build friendships and share their love of music. There is a great mix of music performed and includes Folk, Blues, Country, Jazz, Gospel, Old Timey, Celtic, Traditional and Contemporary. People of all ages enjoy the shows and are encouraged to join in by the performers. Our oldest performer to date was eighty nine and the youngest seven except for the performing pooch 'Poppy' who was only five!! All styles of music are encouraged and verse is also included. We welcome new musicians and appreciate those who come along regularly as performers as well as audience members. We always have an attentive crowd. The show starts at 3pm on the 3rd Sunday of each month except for December and January. Guest performers usually perform 2 sets of 25 minutes and there are also a number of open mic spots. A small PA system is provided for those who require it. As it is quite an intimate venue sometimes people prefer to go unplugged. For more information contact Carmel at [email protected]
