I asked the Bride and Groom which 3 words best describe them as a couple. They told me ... "Worth ... The ... Wait".
The Bride, having immigrated from Ireland to Perth, some years back, said ... "Many things could have kept Steven and I from being together. I will forever be grateful that, somehow, in this infinite universe, we found each other ... in Perth! Meeting him has taught me ... that sometimes life gives you much more than you ever could have imagined!" And, of course, the feeling from the Groom was mutual! Congratulations STEVEN & VICTORIA. Theirs was an extra special wedding ceremony for me to officiate, as Steve is a dear friend from my high school days. I, and our gang of 'schoolies', are so thrilled for him and his beautiful wife. [We loved our high school days and have kept in touch since!] Wishing the newlyweds endless love, laughter and good health in marriage ahead, as a couple, and together with their wonderful blended family. Congratulations ALANAH & KEANU ! By chance, these two lovers met at a bar in Scarborough, WA. Neither had planned to be there that night. Both had been 'dragged out by friends'! Soon after their eyes locked and conversation then easily flowed, he said to her ... "I think I'm in love with you!" That night was the beginning of their epic love story, spanning Australia and New Zealand, including a very romantic wedding proposal in the Phi Phi Islands in Thailand. Guests travelled from near and far. In their ceremony, she said to him ... "With you, everything feels right and balanced. Life is just that much better". WOW ... this epic love story, spans decades! Congratulations PETER & FELICITY! They dated as teens, enjoying Perth's beach life, drive-in movies and having fun! Like for many teen sweet-hearts, life happened and their lives took different paths. But ... the amazing memories of their halcyon, carefree days together remained forever etched in their hearts. 40 years later, they re-connected, with lots more life experience, including children and extended families. Their years apart melted away. They became best friends and fell in love ... all over again. Love can be much about timing. At last, Peter and Felicity's timing was perfect! They married at a gorgeous wedding at home, amidst much love (and "it's about time!" comments) from thrilled family and friends. ❤ Nov 2023.

Wishing a happy, safe, healthy 2024 to all. 2023 has been an amazing year for me, as has each year as a Celebrant. To all my couples I've met and married this year, in previous years, and those I will be marrying in 2024 and beyond, thank you for entrusting me for the most significant day of your life.

Of the endless unforgettable moments in 2023, one still especially brings a tear. In June, I was asked to conduct the funeral ceremony for Richard, a wonderful man, a former flight Captain, who I had married just over 12 months prior, to his true friend and love, J. At the time of Richard and J's wedding, it was known to family and friends that Richard was unwell. Their wedding and reception in Kings Park, was so beautiful and fabulous! (I have tears reflecting upon it, as I'm typing this now.) To prepare for Richard's funeral, I was invited by Richard's husband, J, and family to meet with Richard and them at their home, just days before he passed. We sat at Richard's bedside, enjoying fine food, wine and music, as he so loved. In command until the end, when the Captain would take his final flight, we talked through exactly what Richard wanted for his funeral ceremony. Richard had a passion for opera, and his music choices were meticulous. Upon me leaving that evening, knowing it was the last time I would see Richard, I was emotional, unsure what to say. I leant to him, kissed his hand ... and said ... "Richard, I'm so very pleased and honoured to have been a part of your and J's wedding. The memories created will be cherished forever." Richard said straight back to me ... "Kylee, thank you. It was the best day of my life." ❤
