I'm slowly starting to wind down, in preparation for my maternity leave.
But we'll be taking orders (hopefully) until early November 🥰
I've had a lot of time to reflect on where is at and how far it's come over the last couple of years.
I feel extremely proud of my little business but I know there is so much more room to grow and improve and that's exactly what I plan to do - which feels so exciting!
At this stage, I'm not sure what form the business will take once my little one arrives. But I'm sure I'll figure it out and I'll be back in flowers before too long 💐

Hey flower friend 💐
For many, many years I dreamed of owning my own florist studio and delivering beautiful blooms all over the city.
In 2020, in the middle of COVID, I finally made the big leap and opened The Plumery.
Since then, my little studio has brought me much joy and I hope our flower deliveries have brought the same thing to our wonderful customers and their loved ones.
2023 has been a year filled with a lot of positive change for me personally, which naturally means my business has changed as well.
I can't wait to share with you my exciting plans for the future of The Plumery and see how we evolve over the next few years.

Need flowers delivered to a hospital? 💐
Whether for happy or sad reasons, flowers are a great way to express your love, joy or solidarity without being there to express it in person.
We happily deliver to hospitals all over Perth!
Here's some important info to consider 👇
- Usually, all we need is the patient's full name to ensure flowers are safely delivered to their hospital room.
- Sometimes, people are checked into the hospital with a maiden name so make sure you've given us the correct one.
- Double check your loved one is still in the hospital. Sometimes patients are discharged without you knowing!
- Please bear in mind, some ICUs don't allow flowers on the ward. It's best to wait until the patient is home, or send flowers to a family member.

How much do you know about Floral Foam? 🤔
If you don't know much, this post is for you! Save it for later if you don't have time to read now.
What is floral foam?
It's the wet, green hunk of foam that you find at the bottom of some floral arrangements.
What's it made from?
Simply put, it's plastic. Micro plastic that's not biodegradable.
What's it used for?
Foam is used to keep flowers hydrated and to anchor floral stems into. It's a super easy way to design arrangements BUT there are many other, more environmentally friendly options available to florists.
Why should we avoid it?
- It's a single use plastic,
- contains potential carcinogens,
- makes it's way into water ways to be consumed by organisms.
If I've received floral foam,
what should I do?
Most people mistake it for a natural product and either dispose of it in green waste or crush it down the sink. But the only place for floral foam is in your general waste bin, bound for landfill.
How can I avoid floral foam?
- Shop with florists who don't use floral foam (like us!)
- If you're planning a wedding or event, ask your florist whether they use foam. Any good florist will be able to create beautiful designs ✨ without ✨ foam!
- Tell your family and friends about it!

Are you worried that no one will be home when flowers are delivered? 🤔
Never fear!
We deliver flowers between 12pm and 4pm each day.
If the lucky recipient isn't 🏠 home at the time of delivery, we will leave flowers in a safe and shady spot by the front door.
Flowers come with 💧water to keep them fresh while they wait.
If we can't find a safe spot, we will give you a call to discuss. We're always able to work out the best way to get the flowers to your loved one.

When's the best time to send sympathy flowers?🌷
When someone passes, it's hard to know what to say to their loved ones. We know we want to express our sadness, condolences and support but it's difficult to know when and how.
Flowers are a great way to let them know you're thinking of them.
My advice 👇
💐 Keep your card message short and from the heart. Offer your condolences and let them know they're in your thoughts.
💐 Soft coloured flowers are always appropriate. Whites, greens and pastels are perfect.
💐 Ideally, send flowers before the day of the funeral service.
If you're still not sure what to send and what to say, don't hesitate to call.
