The Other Story Writers
Content Creators.

Two and a half years ago when I was following our UK vendor cousins, I noticed this new scene of vendors popping up. These folks were capturing all the BTS wedding stuff that most Photographers and Videographers would either edit out or simply not be present for. It was game changing, and I became a big fan .

Fast forward to today, as a pro I welcome Wedding Content Creators into the industry with open arms. They are an asset for businesses like ours and a fabulous alternative for couples who may simply just not like having their photo or feel awkward in front of tripods cameras etc.

I find it sad to read such negative views from other pros, who just simply dont get it, or are scared it will take away their business.

It wasnt that long ago Photographers were putting in contracts that they wouldnt work with videographers or live streamers - now its the content creators.

Truth is unless youve worked with superior content creators like bymeg
and many many other fabulous pros offering this service,
It might be hard to understand the value these exceptional businesses bring.

They dont get in the way, they dont steal business and they certainly do go the extra mile to capture everything thats super special long before and after togs and vogs have either started or finished.

If a content creator is something you really want for your wedding, first read the contracts from all your suppliers. If any state they wont allow these types of vendors (content creators) and the contract appears one sided, its then your decision if the business calling for this, is someone you actually want to work with - unless of course theyre a globally renowned or Vogue featured vendor then well....

Content creators are here to stay and we love them! Thankfully all our recommended pros we work with, embrace and welcome them too.

Winter Weddings.....

Have a lot going for them.

Yes, summer weddings sure are stunning but there are some downsides to consider.
Sweltering heat, flies, florals perishing, not to mention hectic itineraries with other summertime weddings, some guests might be forced to RSVP 'no' to your warm-weathered wedding.

Some of the Biggest Complaints about Weddings
We hear from guests.

1. "Its too hot. Its too cold".

Factor weather in your budget right from the start. Guests do NOT care about how much you spent on etsy for customised names to sit on the tables, they care about enjoying your wedding.
More comfort = more enjoyment.
Hire those heaters in winter
Get that marquee covered and airconed in summer
Have a wet weather or extreme heat ceremony back up plan.

2. "Is there any more food?"

Because you like sushi or think a grazing board or a few pizzas is going to be sufficient - think again.
If you want to invite a truck load of guests and not have the budget to feed them you may as well throw all your hard earned money youve put into the reception through the shredder.
If theres Not enough food, people leave early, DJ's play to empty dance floors and the only guests left are those who stay cause theres free booze.
FEED YOUR GUESTS!!!

3. "My 80 year old mum has no where to sit?"

So youve invited 100 guests for a cocktail wedding and hired 2 lounges and a couple of arm chairs and 4 hitop tables "cause all your guests like standing .....
C'mon!!
Poor Aunty Joan dressed in her finery has just had a lovely time watching you get married, stayed around to have family photos, all whilst your younger able bodided friends have gone straight to the reception space, taken prime position on those lounges and aint moving.
Make sure you have enough seating for at least 40%.of attendees.

4. "Its really hard to breathe in there"

Smoke machines (dry ice) can be catostrophic for some guests and vendors.
Clouds for dancing look beautiful but they suck the air out of a room, and can cause breathing issues.
Want to clear your reception space quick, get a smoke machine with guests that have respitory issues.

Champagne Towers!!🥂🍾🥂

If your thinking of having a Champagne Tower at your wedding, its bound to be a focal point for your celebration.
Heres some tips to help you get the absolute best experience for when your tower takes center stage.

✨️Timing - For me its straight after cereomony or right on entry into Reception

✨️Height - Try not to think of hiring something too big just to get those insta worthy shots.
If your tower height is going to go past your necks when pouring its probably too big.
You want to be able to see and watch your pour and enjoy it, not trying to balance on tip toes trying to reach!!

✨️Champagne not your drink of choice, but love how a tower looks?

Why not opt for

🍸Martinis (Dry or Espresso)
🍋Limoncello
🍊Aperol Spritz

✨️Position - the tower needs to be on a level surface so be open minded if you find your tower isnt in the exact mm location to where you wanted, if the floors not level its usually moved as close as possible to your opted spot, but to an area of the ground that has a level surface.

✨️Have a Weather back up if pouring outside, in case of rains, extreme heat, strong winds - remember its glass!!!

✨️Try not to risk a DIY tower. Yes they might be cheaper but are they if it falls?
Leave to experts who have both the skils, knowledge, hygene safety standards & insurance to cover their products and work.
Dont risk a $200 kit you saw on marketplace turn into public liabilty mess - the cost of a falling tower and the damage bill is alot more than $200 - Leave the tower building to the pros like these guys did and used .com.au

Time to shine......

If your planning your big day without the help of a planner or on the day coordinator, you may or may not have heard of or even been aware of having a wedding day timeline.

So what is it and why do you need it.

Your timeline is going to be your holy grail of communicating all activities to all vendors your wedding party and any speech makers, associated to your wedding day.

Your timeline as a minimum should contain

👉🏻A designated Contact Person on the Day - Their phone and email address.
👉🏻Full business name and contact person of vendors attending (including A/H emergency contact info)
👉🏻Date of the Wedding
👉🏻Ceremony Address
👉🏻Reception Address
👉🏻Number of persons including yourselves attending
👉🏻Time , Task and person responsible.
Give as much detail as possible as to the task, so as an example -

12.30pm ABC Vendor to bump in ceremony chairs and arbour. Upon arrival to XYZ Venue there is a locked gate, you will need to contact security from the intercom at the side of the gate and identify yourself as being ABC Vendor for Jack & Diannes Wedding. Once Gates open proceed round to carpark B where there is a opening that will allow you to drive equiptment to ceremony area. Once there Set up to be completed as per floor plan.

Remember the more detail the less likely anyone is going to need to contact you to confim things either prior to, or on the day.

Another thing to add into your timeline is allowance of more time.

The days of "Its tradition to be late" doesnt always work especially if your ceremony space or place of worship has a wedding booked after you.

Allow at least 10-15 minutes before your ceremony for you the be physically there, for things like photos in car, have your celebrant or pastor/priest greet you, compose yourself then start your bridal procession.

✨️Top Tip✨️ - Commence drafting your timeline early.
As your day gets closer you can then adjust to refect relevance to your final plans.

Get your timeline to your Vendors, at least 4 weeks prior to your wedding and have a cut off date for vendors to contact to discuss questions so your not being bombarded the week of your wedding.

Before sending any requests for quotes determine how much you can allocate to wedding flowers. Be clear on what you realistically need, i.e wedding party, parents, ceremony, table arrangements, and remember to account for delivery and labour costs.

👉🏻Pinpoint your floral vision through inspiration, considering factors such as
SEASON - whats in bloom and usually available during your wedding date
LOCATION - think about the venue, whether your wedding is indoors or outdoors and how to best use flowers to compliment the space
COLOUR SCHEME and THEME - Align your flower choices with your colours and overall theme

👉🏻Hire a Professional Florist
Find a skilled floral designer who can work with your budget and bring your vision to life. Discuss preferences of design and colour but BE FLEXIBLE. Flowers will vary in price due to seasonality, supply and availability. Be open to adjustments based on whats feesable within your budget.

You Can't Hurry Love........

But you can certainly make sure your wedding day isn't rushed.

Aside from choosing your Gown, Venue and vendors, probably the biggest administrative components most people don't think about in the early stages of planning a wedding, is "Timings".

One of the very first things we do for our couples when they come to us, is to start working on their wedding day timings.

Time is everything in a wedding - knowing where, when and how things will move on the day helps form the foundations in the very early stages of planning.

This starts from the day of the rehearsal, night before prep, what to pack, what to bring, when to be in bed by, to the time of opening your eyes on the day, showers, hair/ MU, good time to eat, dressing, transport and EVERTHING in between.

You'll find it's all in there.

This helps every one of your vendors know where to be and when, what to do as well as allowing you to cruise into your day without being flustered.

Tassia and Louis - Kind Words

There are so many words I could use to describe Jody's professionalism, care and attention to detail.
My now husband and I got engaged in late November 2022 and decided to get married in March 2023. We wanted to have an intimate wedding. I called some venues and wedding planners but had no success due to the short time we had. Either they were extremely expensive, or they couldn't help us as they were already booked out, as March is one of the busiest months to get married in WA.

With our hopes down, we decided to get married at the Hall in Northbridge and go somewhere for lunch. After several attempts to call restaurants to understand how that could work, I decided to call Jody to check if we could have our wedding lunch held at Lamont's Bishop House.

Jody was very friendly and attentive with me over the phone. I told her my plans, and she immediately suggested I do the wedding at Lamonts. She talked me through the wedding packages, and despite our limited time, she managed to accommodate a sudden visit to the facility the following day.

My husband and I fell in love with the venue. It was everything we needed for our intimate wedding of 17 guests including us two.

From that moment on, Jody was super approachable and cared for every detail; I mean, even those I didn't even think about or imagined it couldn't be possible. She went above and beyond to ensure our day was perfect and guess what, it was.

We didn't worry about anything. She even helped us with the invites and they looked terrific 🥰

Our friends continue to tell us how excellent the food was. I come from a country where food is valuable, especially at weddings. I needed to find a venue where the food was not only good, but it was also abundant.

We would definitely get married at Lamonts again and I would have Jody to be my wedding planner again, again and again.

Thank you so much, Jody, for everything you did for us. We loved every single moment of our Big Day.
