I’m very, very happy about this one.

A huge congratulations to all of the other finalists and winners. There are so many ridiculously talented celebrants in this industry, and it’s pretty special to be amongst them.

And mostly, thank you to my couples. For trusting me with your stories, your vows, your nerves, your big feelings and one of the biggest days of your lives.

(Although apparently, according to my son, Top 10 = “you lost.” 😂)

Everyone sees the ceremony, not everyone sees the quiet hour before it.

The early arrival. The little checks. The paperwork. The playlist. The flowers. The vendor chats. Making sure everything is exactly where it needs to be before two people walk in and everything suddenly matters.

I really love this part.

Getting love from my couples will always mean the world to me, but there is something so special about receiving kind words from the people I get to work alongside, too.

We all see each other behind the scenes, in the quiet moments before the ceremony, during the nerves, the excitement and everything in between. So to know that the people sharing the day with me feel my warmth, calm and care means more than I can say.

And sometimes it’s dinner, a few legal words, two people you adore and a very small guest list.

Legals-only ceremonies might be simple, but they’re still incredibly special.

Which side should you stand on during your wedding ceremony?

Honestly, you can stand wherever you like.

When helping couples work out their ceremony positions, I like to consider the little things that might make a difference in your photos and how comfortable you feel:

Your hair. Is there a side you prefer in photos? And just as importantly, which way is the wind blowing? If the wind is likely to catch your hair or veil, we can work with the conditions rather than against them.

Your dress. Does it have a dramatic detail, bow, slit, sleeve or train that you want to be visible?

Your tattoos. Is there artwork on one arm or shoulder you’d love to have showing?

Your “good side”. No judgement here.

Your height difference. Sometimes swapping sides simply looks and feels better.

Your rings. We also want to make sure those beautiful ring exchange photos work nicely.

Your ceremony is about finding the positions that feel natural for you and taking little details, including the weather on the day, into account.

It’s a tiny detail, but one worth thinking about before the big day.
