Only one more sleep, everyone! Hurry up! Ahead of the free 4th Birthday event tomorrow, we thought it would be a good idea to share how the set times will work.

Before we get into explaining the set times, please remember: if you’re not coming, just reply to the Yangebeats phone number with a "NO" and we will cancel your ticket and clear the increasing waitlist. Even if you SMS late at night, no dramas.

Yangebeats is all about the musical journey. So for this one, we are going to start with 30 minutes of ambient music from 8 to 8:30, This gives everyone a chance to get in and settled into the venue, meet the your friends and DJs before the battle starts. Then at 8:30, we kick things off. No surprises that DJ Miller has volunteered to create the intro with 30 minutes of ambient tunes—this time, you’ll get to hear this masterpiece!

The first hour will feature teams: Miller and TyMarl vs. Hynds and Larko. Once we’re past the opening hour, we’ll start to ramp it up. This is just a guide, and if we feel the need to go hard sooner, we will, but we want to take you all on a proper classic journey.

The reason nights like Gatecrasher were amazing is that 90% of the tracks were trance, and every now and then, a different classic from another genre would be played. So expect a few unexpected tracks to blow the floor off. Trance, Breaks, Techno, House, Hard House, who knows where the night will take us!!

Remember, tickets only gain you entry before 10pm. Once we hit 10pm, we will let anyone without tickets in.

As you all know, the Yangebeats resident DJs will be going B2B for this event, but we thought it was time to unleash a new idea: the DJ with the most poker chips wins!

Before we explain our latest crazy idea, we’d like to debrief everyone on the RSVPs this week. Running a free event comes with its challenges, including dealing with online scammers. To combat this, we asked everyone to RSVP when claiming a free ticket. This week, we hit 400 YES responses. A massive thanks to everyone! If your plans change in the next few days and you can’t come, just SMS “NO” to our YB number. This will cancel your ticket and help reduce the waitlist.

Now, about those poker chips. When you arrive this Friday, you will be handed a single poker chip. Hold on to this chip until you hear a classic you love or didn’t expect. When you hear that track that just does it for you, walk up to the DJ booth where you’ll find 4 DJ JARS with our mugs on them. Put your chip in the correct jar. You can see where this is going—the four of us will be battling it out all night for your chips to be crowned the classic king!

There are so many levels to this idea, but it’s easy to say there will be a lot of banter going on in the DJ booth. If you’re late to the party and haven’t grabbed a free ticket, join the waitlist ASAP. As soon as someone notifies us that they can’t attend, you’ll hopefully be added to all the fun!

There are two stages at Port Beach Brewery—one playing Techno and the other featuring melodic and Psy. They even have an after-hours warehouse just around the corner for those who like to see the sunrise! At Yangebeats, we believe it's important to get people reading DJ bios again. Last year, we asked our DJs to write each other’s bios, encouraging them to be as honest as possible. You can see the results in the attached photos.

This year, we're taking it a step further and giving you all the opportunity to write our bios. We ask that you be as honest as possible. Feel free to choose any DJ, or even write one for each DJ. Each entry will be reviewed, and if yours is selected, you'll receive a lifetime guest list pass to any Yangebeats event.

You don't even need to attend the event. If you feel you know a DJ really well and want to have a go at crafting an amusing and honest bio for them, feel free to SEND IT!

You may have seen me around at the Yangebeats gigs as faithful groupie and helping hand to our wonderful YB crew!
I'm here to spread the word about donating blood! It's National Blood Donor week and so we're celebrating ourselves 🥳 🎉

Did you know that Yangebeats has a blood donation team? So far we've racked up 51 donations (that's 153 lives saved!) but we're looking for more team members to increase our numbers!

If you're a donor and aren't part of a team already you can ask the wonderful people on the front desk next time you give blood to add you into our team!

Or if you'd like to join us for our fortnightly bleed and feed (we go out for dinner after our donation) send one of us a PM and we'll let you know the deets.

If you're not a donor maybe now is the time to rip the bandaid off and give it a go! There's lot of reasons why some people can't donate, and that's ok! But if you can, you should give it a try. You get free snacks afterwards and get to chill out in the chair while donating, it's my fortnightly "me time".

So in honour of National Blood Donor week here are some blood donation facts:

- One in three Aussies will need blood products at some point in their lives.
- giving whole blood only takes about 10 minutes but you can only give every 3 months
- giving plasma (what we do) takes about an hour but you can donate every 2 weeks
- plasma is the soupy part of the blood and can be made into 18 different life giving treatments
- when you give plasma you get your red blood cells back!
- Donated blood lasts just 42 days, which is why donating regularly is so important
- In Australia, one blood donation is needed every 24 seconds.
- The biggest use of donated blood in Australia is for cancer and blood diseases.
- In Australia, you can donate blood four months after getting a tattoo, but you can donate plasma straight away!
- People who lived in the United Kingdom for over 6 months between 1980 and 1996 can now give blood in Australia.

That's probably bloody-well enough for now. We'd love to see you in the chair, but if not, we'll see you in the dancefloor!

Our good friends over at BIOMA are hosting the 2nd year of their Full Circle Festival in just under 2 weeks time - 14th-16th June.

The lads have been working hard for months behind the scenes to put this event together and we know that it's going to be packed with quality.

They have a solid line up of local talent, including previous Yangebeats guests DJs alongside some interstate artists, all delivering an array of music covering progressive, house, techno, DnB and much more

When we started Yangebeats, we built it on several key values. Our goal was to create events where it didn’t matter who was playing—you just wanted to be surrounded by the same awesome people who always bring their best vibes! We love that you still attend our events even when our resident DJs write the worst DJ bios. You hop on buses without knowing where they’re headed. We hope your recovery has been smooth. Friday was so much fun, and thanks again to everyone for turning up and bringing the usual good vibes. Special thanks to all our DJs; you were on point and took us on a great musical journey over 11 hours! Over the next week, we will share the photos, videos, and live sets.

Our next event is our 4th Birthday in July, but before we can announce it, we need to finalise a few details.

***Announcing our DJ competition winner***

At Yangebeats we’re always looking to give passionate DJs a platform. Breaking into the Perth scene can be a hard task, so we look to use the little mark we’ve made to promote talented new DJs!

That being said, we’re honoured to announce our DJ competition winner James Charles!!

The calibre of the mixes submitted to us was exceptionally high and we’ve enjoyed listening to all of them. Choosing a winner was hard but there was something in James mix that stood out to us.

James has been to a number of our events and we’re delighted to give him a platform to showcase himself. He’s even a budding producer, so you might find a couple of new tracks / remixes in his set on Friday night! James will be kicking off the free Geisha "The Return" pre party at Universal Bar at 6pm.

“If being a DJ was a genetic trait, James certainly has it. With a long standing interest in playing music, Jean Michel Jarre’s Oxygene was an identifiable childhood memory of the awe of electronica.

By age 10 there were frequent trips to Central Station to collect rave posters, back in the day when Central Station was somewhere to crate dig vinyl and buy spray paint before central station meant train station again and crate digging was a literal term, not browsing on Beatport.

James didn’t have to wait too long to go pro after doing a basic course in 1998 - practically in less than a year, getting paid to play at the school fete, organising equipment for parties and curating burned CDs. We can skip the list of essential late 90’s trance influencers that are now household names and probably say the earliest influences were the Hooj Choons played at the local rec centre rollerblading sessions. Or the mixtapes recorded off PMFM after midnight when mixtapes were actually cassettes.

Remaining humble, the closest James has got to playing a mainstage gig was playing the Halloween Disco at the local school (and only because the previous DJ was booked for another gig). He wasn’t asked back the following year, assuming it could have been the 10kw festival PA and not his skills that put them off.

Lucky he’s got a day job, because learning on vinyl, before the days of sync, never helped him become famous. At least he listened to LTJ Bukem’s direct advice to just stick with it.
If James learned something from a Curtin DJ comp at the Tav, it was to stick with progressive and trance. Shortly after that, a half decent vinyl mix earned him an opportunity to play at a Metro City sideroom for a Godskitchen night in ‘02, back in the days when trance filled the place.

More recently, James has been producing music under the name Hexciv. The vision is to focus on the constant evolution of the trance sound. Being able to create and share the space where moments of inspiration arise out of melody is the ultimate goal. Whilst sounds change, the energy and emotions in trance music will always live on.”

Drei’s DJ journey began in the 90’s when dubbing RTR FM’s techno shows over cassettes was the only way he could garner his passion for underground music.

In 2004, acquiring his first set of turntables and CDJs was where endless hours were dedicated to learn the fine art of djing which paved a path into the music scene.

His first gig was competing in ECU’s DJ competition, coming out twice winner, and the main prize was showcasing at the nationals at the infamous The Loft nightclub. Narrowly missing out on pole position, his first invitation to play in Melbourne’s vibrant nighlife was with DJ Matt Promo who held the world’s longest DJ set at the time.

Kiss FM was his first taste of what radio was all about and his passion for the airwaves continued with residencies at RTR FM’s BPM show mentored by the legendary curator Colin Bridges. Whilst juggling a hectic radio schedule, club residencies poured in particularly at Geisha where his love of Chicago house and contributing to the scene with the Definition of House and Soul Project crews and warming up for Chuck Love, Jay West, and Inland Knights.

Outfits such as Habitat, Respect Music and international tours of South Korea, Mauritius, Finland, and New Zealand all added badges to his cuff as the years went by, having the honour to play alongside Yousef, Jamie Stevens, Beroshima to name a few. Currently hosting his own show We R Deep on R-House Radio, today you can catch him at Solouk, Sonus Sol, Friendz AU, Bailomos, & Deviance parties showcasing his love for the fine art of djing.

Drei’s musical style has evolved over the years with remants of trance, techno and house that has inspired fresh approaches to deliver meticulously tailored sets. Expect deep layered soundscapes with intricate nostalgic elements that’s weaved in with familiar grooves. The aim is to have you dancing, forget the concept of time and stay in your bliss.

Before we unveil the next DJ, let's dive into a little story.

Leading up to our 1st birthday back in 2021, DJ Sylph sent us a mix unasked, eager to showcase her sound. Intrigued, we gave it a listen and instantly fell in love with her style. Despite having already finalised our lineup, we knew we had to make room for her.

Fast forward three years, and Sylph has become a dominant force in the progressive music scene, often warming up for many international DJs in the genre. So it's no surprise that we've invited Sylph back for the third time.

Born in The Netherlands, Sylph started mixing vinyl in the early 2000s due to her enthusiasm for Progressive / Tech House

The mixes she recorded landed her a number of gigs, including 'Virus Festival' and 'Exclaim!' Dance Event, supporting the likes of Eelke Kleijn and Leon Bolier.

After her move to Australia, Sylph took a break from the scene until the pandemic reignited her love of electronic music.
Switching from vinyl to digital, she found a renewed passion for discovering unique releases characterised by Progressive beats and melodies, although her track selection includes a range of genres from Melodic Techno to Organic House.

Lately, Sylph has performed at a number of events in Perth such as Yangebeats, Pachamama Gatherings, Friendz Club Australia, Melodia, Sonus Sol, Above All Else, LOST IN BETWEEN - NYE FESTIVAL and Amon Vision.

She has supported international artists such as Dosem, Lost Desert, Volen Sentir and Izhevski as well as opened Amon Vision’s Progressive Stage prior to Alex O’Rion.

Additionally, Sylph appeared on RTR FM's 'Trainwreck' radio show, Frisky Radio's X- Chrome show and is currently a resident DJ for Ibiza Stardust Radio.
