Partiesforfriends

Partiesforfriends partiesforfriends specialises in making your next party great and one that your friends will remembe parties are fun. if this is you, let me help!

these days it is getting harder and harder to host a party where all of your friends, including you, are having a great time. it seems to take so long to prepare the food, it tastes ok but not setting the world on fire, you haven't been able to cater for your one friend who has a special dietary need and importantly you are not enjoying yourself as you are running around prepping, serving and clea

ning up. I can give you the time to enjoy your party with your friends by easing all or some of these kinks. no time to cater, I would love to take away your kink of having to prep, cook, serve and clean. I come to your home with everything I need, feed everyone delicious and memorable food and then clean up so the kitchen looks better than when I arrived. All you need to do is have a great time. oh, I can guarantee that it is some of the yummiest food that your friends will remember. what about your friend, X, who has a dietary issue, no worries I see this as a simple challenge! it is my partyosophy that everyone should be able to enjoy the same menu, there just needs to be some ingredients tweaking to make this happen. if you are up to hosting yourself or want to meet some fellow foodies come along to a cooking class. not only do you pick up some hints and tips, cook something yourself, enjoy all of the food we prepare and have a lot of fun.

Cathryn and Bruce are two of our very talented artists exhibiting at the Mother Earth Art Exhibition on Friday night 7-9pm (opening event) and Saturday 9 - 1pm (gallery and market stalls). Come along to the Darlington Hall to see their amazing artwork and pick up an original piece from these local, award winning artists.

Let's get to know Cathryn and Bruce.

Cathryn and Bruce are both award winning artists with work in many collections both here and overseas. They share a love of handbuilding and pushing clay to its limits.

Cathryn has been a potter since before she even knew what that meant. As a child she used to play with clay she found when the family went on picnics to the waterholes in the Gascoyne River. She has often wondered whether anyone ever found the animals she made, or whether they merely crumbled into dust and washed away when the river flooded again.

As an adult she rediscovered her love of clay when a friend suggested doing evening classes at TAFE, and followed this up with a Diploma of Fine Arts course. She was a founding member of the Whiteman Park Pottery Association and of the Pothole Potters Gallery. When the Whiteman Park Pottery closed after nearly 30 years, Cathryn was asked to join the Whiteman Park Handcraft Association, where she is still a member.

Cathryn is well known for her lifelike Aussie animals and whimsical fantasy creations. Her work has featured in many solo and group exhibitions over the last 45 years.

Bruce’s architectural background and love of mechanical forms came to the fore when Cathryn handed him some clay one evening and said “here – make something!” He won the Darlington Arts Festival Pottery Prize (in 1991) with a quirky battleship and has continued to experiment with fantastical architecture and sculptural pieces. He is an Associate Member of the Whiteman Park Handcraft Association . His and Cathryn’s work can also be found at Two Birds behind the Post Office in Darlington.

Gina is very talented glass artist that is exhibiting at the Mother Earth Art Exhibition on Friday night 7-9pm (opening event) and Saturday 9 - 1pm (gallery and market stalls). Come along to the Darlington Hall to see her amazing artwork and pick up an original Gina Scriven piece from this local, celebrated artist.

Let's get to know Gina.

I am inspired and awed by the beauty of art, nature and life. Everyday I would see the most spectacular colours, shapes and forms and wonder at their magnificence.

I'm a passionate glass artist who loves to design and create unique artisan pieces for clients and galleries. I love working with glass. It’s light, reflections and colours provide the medium to express what inspires me about nature.

As glass is a natural material, working with it adds that extra connection with nature.
Glass has emotion and is warming to the touch. It’s a conduit for positive and healing energy. As a liquid it allows energy to flow through it, absorbing my energy into the piece and passing it onto to you.

I also offer adding a small amount of ashes of your loved one to your glass piece to lift its healing energy to help with loss and grief. It’s also comforting to know that your loved one is still close.

Contact Gina via email [email protected] to commission glass pieces and don't forget to follow her artistry journey on LinkedIn and Facebook .

Olivia is one of our very talented artists exhibiting at the Mother Earth Art Exhibition on Friday night 7-9pm (opening event) and Saturday 9 - 1pm (gallery and market stalls). Come along to the Darlington Hall to see her amazing artwork and pick up an original Olivia Kalin piece from this up and coming artist.

Let's get to know Olivia.

I am a Noongar artist with connections to Jaru Country, whose journey began in primary school, where I first learned dot painting from my family, including my Pop, Dougie Ryder. My passion for art continued to grow when I was accepted into the GATE art program at Kalamunda Senior High School, where I developed my visual arts skills.

In Year 11, through my ATAR Art “Identity” project, I reconnected with Aboriginal art practices, deepening my connection to culture and storytelling. Since graduating in 2022, I have continued painting consistently, evolving my style as an artist.

My work is inspired by Country, connection, and the natural landscapes around me, expressed through vibrant, contemporary colour palettes that reflect the beauty and energy of nature.

when I was asked to make a for my nephew’s birthday party, I said sure. I’ve made a 3D for my son’s birthday so it was going to be a piece of cake 🍰! As it is me, I had to step it up a notch. Hubby found this mask in where when you move his jaw it ROOOAAAARRRSSSS! How cool would it be if when you moved the cakes mouth it roared at you?

so we got to work removing the inside bit of the mask (so birthday boy could use it later), baked a cake and iced it to fit behind the mask. To get the wrinkly effect of the dinosaur’s skin, a crafted rice crispy mix around the cake and mask then covered it all in white fondant. There were uneven dents and it looked great. Now it just needed painting.

the painting took a while and it was a very late night but we got there in the end! Oh the eyes were painted ping pong balls done by hubby - so lifelike.

alert - banana, lemon and passionfruit bread. The drizzle of icing on top adds just enough sugar to the bread to stop those cravings.

I think the only thing that would make this even better is spreading over some of my .

The pretty and edible snap dragons on top of the bread I found online from . Love their dried flower range 🩷💜
