Rachel Kemp has a passion for the events industry and has developed a wide range of event operations skills over the past twenty years, having been involved in many of large-scale sporting, community, music and arts festivals and events across WA. Rachel’s first major role in the events industry was working on the City to Surf from 2003 – 2007. She held the role of Volunteer Coordinator & Events Officer for Activ Foundation. She was responsible for all aspects of recruitment, role development, rostering, training, and onsite management of the volunteer team which consisted of up to 800 volunteers on event day. Rachel’s event experience was further developed at Sunset Events managing projects and HR responsibilities for major music festivals such as Southbound, West Coast Blues n Roots and other concerts and events. This included coordinating hundreds of staff and volunteers for their major festivals. From 2009 she played an instrumental role(s) at Perth Fashion Festival managing their Style Envoy Program for Volunteers, and in 2010 was promoted to Operations Manager overseeing the management of staffing and all operations of the Fashion Festival. Rachel worked as Event Manager for Mellen Events during 2009 -2011, on a number of Day on the Green concerts, Future Music Festival(s) and Summadayze. She was also involved with the Ord Valley Muster and Kimberley Moon Experience concert, held in Kununurra as a key member of the events management team. Rachel was recruited by West Coast Institute of Training in 2012 in the role of Lecturer Events. This role allowed her to train, mentor and develop students breaking into the events industry and completing their Cert III Events, or Diploma of Events. She also oversaw the work experience placements for students and assessed student's competency across various course units and onsite at events. Since 2012, Rachel has primarily undertaken freelance contract work in events, music entertainment, coordinating volunteer programs and managing event staff & volunteers. Rachel is a strong advocate for volunteers and the volunteering sector, and between 2006 -2009 was a Board Director for Volunteering WA, the peak body Volunteering in WA. Rachel herself is also an avid volunteer and has supported various organisations and events in the past twenty years. One of her most memorable and enjoyable volunteer roles was volunteering for Richmond Football Club for a period of 10 years from 2010-2020. She was the President from 2015, (and Secretary for prior years) of the Richmond FC WA Supporter Group and Committee. In 2019, Rachel Kemp was awarded with the 'Alice Wills Award', from Richmond Football Club, for recognition and appreciation of outstanding service of the club as a volunteer.
