Lil mofo can't go on full walks for another week and a bit so he did some walking for 2 mins and like always got under and in my feet. Then started chomping on his bone lol. At least he's not fighting with his sister.

So it happened, I registered for @yourshotau with no expectations. I had no idea the attitude and philosophy of the team/comp in general. I was honest with my interview and to my suprise I got in.
There was nothing that was a barrier as lot's of different styles of music got in as well as the budding DJ's behind them. I found everyone involved to be super inclusive and the bond of music brought everyone together. I was just myself and trust me it has taken me until my late 30's to be able to do that.
Being a little bit older was not a barrier, it just meant I had to work harder using the tools available. My ticket sales, were not amazing, but I did post consistently across multiple platforms and started on some new ones.
I had people that I had never met that came up after my gig and said they loved my set and I am my own worst critic. The validation from my friends and new fans has been awesome.
Whilst I had a bit of experience, but was not completley comfortable. Most of the competitors have nil experience behind the decks and this weekend was their first big public gig. That in itself is a massive achievement for anyone. Let alone some people who may have extreme anxiety, be an introvert etc etc. A love of music, dosen't necessarily, instantly give you a suit of armour to be amazing and engage with people, but doing this comp gave me the belief that I could do these things.
Don't be afraid to reach out to the instructors or now past competitors of the 2023 alumni for any advice. I'll be posting some more videos soon about my experiences.
Thanks to the YourShot Comp and hardworking crew and our instructors and those that jumped in for juding as well. Thanks to my classmates, super proud of every one of you.
