JEM Top Tip

Vendors - check with your vendors if they will be the actual person attending the wedding. If they are not, find out who is. Some vendors outsource contractors and you don’t want a shock on the day when someone you don’t know arrives in their place.

Confetti looks great in photos but make sure your venue allows it and use biodegradable or real petals if possible. Bubbles are also a great alternative.

Aaaaand thats a wrap from me (Jess) for the season. But don’t worry, our fabulous team is still there to support you through the festive season whilst Lisa and I have a much needed rest.

Thanks to all our gorgeous couples, vendors and venues for supporting us through this crazy year. And an absolute MASSIVE thank you to our beautiful team; Michelle, Michelle, Ashlee, Kristy and Aurora for making the magic happen.

Seating Plans.
Make sure guests are aware they are not to move place cards. Deviating from the seating plan can mean the caterers won’t know the dietary requirement placings and this could lead to a guest having a severe allergic reaction during your reception. Also, having allocated seats for guest’s actually avoid’s your guests being unhappy. If they have no choice where they are sitting they will (99% of the time) respectfully do it but if you leave it free for them to choose this more often leads to some guests being unhappy as they want to sit with a specific someone but by the time they enter the room there may not be enough seats to accommodate them all. So limit the choice and everyone will be happy.

This weeks tip is

invitations - send them out 3 months before your wedding day and ask for RSVP’s 6 weeks before the wedding day. This gives you time to chase any late reply’s and make sure you have the final numbers in time for vendors such as venue, catering and furniture hire.

Embrace the Outdoors. Consider a beach or bushland ceremony, as Australia boasts stunning natural backdrops.

This weeks tip from Lisa is

When you meet with your celebrant make sure you check with them that they step to the side when the announce your first kiss so they don’t crash your photo. Even better if they can stand to the side for the entire ceremony so the ceremony photos are of just the two of you. Also make sure before you do your exit they let your guests know what’s happening next - if there’s a group photo where to go, where cocktail hour is etc. and ask them to announce in the house keeping before your entrance things like where the toilets are etc.

DJ/MC - make sure you check with your DJ that they will be also MC’ing for you. You don’t want to be caught out on the night with no MC by assuming the DJ is doing it.

Incorporating Cultural Traditions. Australia has rich Indigenous heritage. Consider including traditional elements that honor this culture or your own cultural backgrounds even if it’s a few generations back!
