Performing the world premiere of Holly Harrison's saxophone concerto 'Superhighway' with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra was an amazing privilege. Being accompanied by my own orchestra made it even more remarkable. Kudos to Umberto Clerici for his exceptional leadership, and thanks to Evan Kennea, Alan Tyrrell, and the artistic team for making this a memorable event. Ages ago, I wrote a piece called 'One' for alto or tenor saxes and backing track. It's a looped-styled, laid-back work where every sound on the backing is created by one saxophone.
It's a great addition to any exam, recital or concert program.
