Amberley’s 18th birthday party

A big thank you to Jeanette (and Sarah for the recommendation) for getting in touch to discuss your gorgeous daughter’s 18th birthday party. It was such a pleasure working with you and your beautiful family.

There are times when setting up an event, where changing just one thing can make all the difference. In this instance it was all down to the lighting. We transformed the dark side entrance to the garden by hanging 10mtrs of curtain lights. This created the perfect welcome for guests as they arrived as well as guiding them through to the main event.

We used string lights around the pool area along with festoons and a light tower around the patio. Using curtain lights beneath the soft white fabric of the arbor offered subtle lighting as well as creating a backdrop for photographs.

A few bar tables, stools and some hurricane lanterns helped finish the look.

Many thanks to the gorgeous Amelia Graves for getting in touch for her beautiful daughter Heidi’s 18th burthday party.
The By Bubbles bunting hung across the garden looked fabulous and really set the scene for the family afternoon tea. Along with a few Emma Bridgewater coffee mugs, some cafetières with coffee cosies, and Amelia’s stunning house as a backdrop, it all looked fantastic.

Pimms - One of the most refreshing summertime drinks. Change it up a bit by using Dry Ginger Ale instead of Lemonade!

Serves 14

Ingredients

1 700 ml bottle of Pimms
2 ltr Dry Ginger Ale or Lemonade
1 x cucumber
2 x punnet of strawberries
2 x oranges
Large handful of mint leaves
(Keep half of the fruit and mint for serving)

Method

Pour whole bottle of Pimms into a large jug
Add half of the chopped fruit and mint
Leave in fridge for at least 2 hours for flavours to infuse

Serve

Add ice to large glass along with some of the remaining fresh fruit and mint followed by 50 ml of Pimms and top up with 150 ml of Dry Ginger Ale or Lemonade per glass

Enjoy!

A huge thank you to my gorgeous friend, Julie McKenna for asking me to add a few finishing touches to the hen’s party she was hosting for her soon to be daughter in law, Tara.

Julie’s gorgeous daughter, Laura, and her team of fabulous friends put such a lot of effort into creating a fun filled and colourful event for Tara. All I had to do was provide a few bar tables, some lanterns, lights and some bar accessories.

It was so lovely seeing Laura and her lovely friends working together and supporting each other in such a happy and positive way.

Well done ladies!

Thank you Ann for a wonderful evening celebrating your 50th birthday! You have a beautiful family and fabulous friends. Together, you and Nadine created a fun and unique event using sneakers as your theme and put so much effort in to making sure everyone had a great night. You spoilt us with copious amounts of delicious food and drinks…..thank you for a special evening!

Adding flowers and foliage to your event decoration doesn’t have to cost the earth.

Using sprays of reasonably priced eucalyptus and Joey fern with a few roses or chrysanthemums for colour won’t break the bank but will add a beautiful finishing touch to the look.

Mixing vases, bottles and containers of different shapes, sizes and materials also helps create interesting and effective displays.

Vanessa’s birthday celebration

At the weekend I helped the gorgeous Vanessa Marchin and her lovely husband Rowan set up for her birthday celebration at their home. They hired a marquee which added protection from the elements to their already great outdoor entertainment area.

We went all out with the lighting using festoons in the outdoor area, fairy lights in the marquee and on the photo wall, light towers in the dining area and lots of candles and lanterns both indoors and out.

White and gold signs were placed at the curtained entrance and on the photo wall and copious amounts of balloons created a bit of party fun. Vanessa chose classic white tablecloths for the dining table and the bar tables in the marquee. It was all finished off with the equally classic white flowers and eucalyptus.

The event was fancy dress and guests were asked to use the initial of their first name and dress as someone starting with that letter…..Vanessa was a very vivacious vampire! Everyone made imaginative and impressive efforts and a great night was had by all!

Last weekend this lovely couple celebrated their engagement surrounded by their family and friends. Savannah asked me to help decorate their home with lots of white fabric, fairy lights and balloons. We used tall bar tables dressed with white tablecloths and topped with candles and vases of white roses, gypsophila and eucalyptus. Wishing the lovely couple many years of happiness together.

Grand-baby Shower

Covid restrictions over the last 18 months or so have certainly been a challenge for many people and I know our lovely friend Jayne will agree. Not only did she miss being at her daughter Vicky’s wedding last year in the UK, she is also missing being with her for the upcoming birth of her first child.

Many thanks to Helen for organising a Grand-baby Shower here in Perth so that this special occasion did not go uncelebrated. It was a lovely get together with gorgeous friends, delicious food....and a few glasses of champers of course! Thanks to Tom for lighting the fire and making the house so cosy and welcoming!

Wishing Jayne and her blossoming family many congratulations at this special time.

Oh la la!

It was such a privilege and lots of fun to be working with Margie Best last weekend in her beautiful home. Her brief was to create a relaxed but elegant Parisian themed evening for some of her lovely friends. The lucky ladies were hosted by Margie and her gorgeous daughter, Dom whilst hubby, Pat, cooked them a delicious dinner. Clancy, the most adorable puppy, also helped with the celebration!

The look we were after was achieved by using candleholders of various heights from low tea lights to tall candelabras. We used several vases and bottles of delicate white roses tinged with pink, cerise ranunculus as well as foliage from the garden to bring a soft, feminine look to the event.

We added a bit of fun by using iconic French/Parisian images to produce decals for the glassware, name cards, table decorations and Bonsoir sign.

Unfortunately we were unable to celebrate the baby shower as planned due to covid restrictions but hopefully we were able to make Cody’s last day at work a little special. A huge thank you to the gorgeous Tricia Neary for inviting me to set up a special celebration for her partner Steve and his twin sister Paula’s 60th birthday. White tablecloths, glassware, candles and native flowers created a simple but elegant setting. A small play area was enjoyed by the children.
