COULDN’T PICK IT
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This wedding was a FUN one! Despite being in March, we had rain, then sun, then rain, then wind, sun and heat then rain AND wind on the radar for over 2 weeks and we did NOT know which way this was going to go.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We had 3 different plans, 3 different set ups, 3 different contingencies and in the end we had to make life choices 3 days before the wedding and hope the weather app gods were right. They were half right and about 1 hour behind on the radar and we dealt with more wind than we expected but we got there.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We ended up having to move tables last minute to have the ceremony in the sperry tent on the dancefloor so R&L could have the ceremony backdrop they wanted, but once we’d moved them back you would have never known.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Just goes to show having a planner and coordinator on your side to make those rough choices is so helpful because you just never know what’s going to be thrown at you. Please know if you have an outside wedding I’ll always try to make it happen, even if that means split second last minute decisions.

You know what though I actually really like the photos of bridal parties in the rain. The umbrellas are an awesome prop!

GETTING READY
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I think for girls in particular the morning getting for your wedding is such an important part of the experience. We spend our childhood watching Disney movies and watching princesses find their prince and the build up to that very special moment, for us, the getting ready in the morning bit is all part of our build up.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Getting our hair and make up done (because it’s rare we get to do that), looking at our dream dress hanging on the hanger with the light shining through, putting on those earrings we painstakingly chose to match and then spending time with our favourite people who helped us get there.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then we put on that dress, and we feel like that Disney princess. The one we watched growing up and the one we always wanted to be.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And then we leave the house in our carriage, and make the journey to our fairytale walk down the aisle to that special person who made it all a reality.

I really do think weddings are a magical experience and I started my business to help my couples have the dream wedding they always wanted when they were little.

CLASSIC TRADITIONAL CLEAN AESTHETIC

You all know I love me a monochrome colour palate and white there are so many ways you can do this, I love using venue inclusions to keep it a) budget conscious but also b) different and unique to each venue.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Using wooden black cross back chairs this wedding but with very classic clean lines, black chargers and beautiful white and green florals, this very rustic venue was transformed into a very classic traditional black and white wedding which you commonly don’t see here.

Proving that if you love the location but not quite the aesthetic, you can completely change the vibe by the styling elements you use.

CANDLE VIBESYou might have seen this powder candle of doing the rounds everywhere at the moment, and for good reason. I bloody love it.

It's non toxic, easy to clean, lead free and 100% plant based, and not only that it customisable that it can be poured into any vessel I want which makes it SO flexible. Granted most of the time we use it in hurricane vases but that doesn't mean we could put it into something else - I have at a few weddings now and it's been amazing to work with.

And did I mention easy to clean...a lot of stylists and florists charge a cleaning fee for pillar candles, I don't, because I don't need to!

I have about 50 hurricane vases in my collection and growing and they are all included for free in all my weddings if the wedding calls for them. The only thing you need to pay for it the wax!

AHE TURNS 5

Slightly behind schedule because it completely slipped my mind, but Alice Heydon Events has officially turned 5. It’s been a hard slog but despite all the world events in the last five years, 2 babies and 4 house moves, my little business is still going strong and I’m so proud to say that I’m still here because I think in our industry that’s an achievement.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
AHE started because I planned my own wedding and all of my vendors said why on earth don’t you do this for a living? Took me a few more months to make my mind up but thought hey can’t hurt to try!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Blessed is an understatement knowing the amount of trust I get from my clients and I’m so grateful to be able to do something I genuinely love. Looking back on all I have achieved, the friends I’ve made along the way, we really do have a beautiful little industry here in Perth and I’m so happy to be a small part of it.

A ROMA
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Rob proposed to Cass at the Trevi fountain - yeh I know swoon - so of course we had to go all out with the Roman architecture with this wedding. Not the standard 3 arches but 5 behind the bridal adorned with vibrant hot pink floral installations for that epic wow factor.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I also wanted to incorporate real Italy into this wedding and a travel image of a beautiful country village courtyard with draping bourgainvillea over the garden walls was the perfect inspiration for this wedding.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Adding a touch of modern and this is where we ended up. If I have my way I would have put a floor in the whole room and decalled the whole thing in slate grey courtyard cobblestones, but costs meant we stuck with the carpet. Think outside the box though you’ll never know where you end up!
