On a beautiful sunny day, this couple who have overcome more hurdles than most, celebrated their love in the Sunken Garden of UWA. I think her entrance on her father's arm, meandering through the gardens and over the bridge was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

This hand-fasting was a first for many of the guests of this devoted couple, so when one guest, who was worried about it, tells you with tears in their eyes that it was THE most beautiful wedding they have ever seen... well I feel pretty proud... and I also honour the couple who worked with me to make this day their dream come true.

🍰 remember the old tradition of singles sleeping on a piece of cake to dream of their future partner? I have clear memories of my mum waking me up with a piece of fruit cake with thick white icing in a little white bag, and putting it under my pillow.

Baked in 1898 and still almost flawless, this floral masterpiece is considered the world's oldest complete wedding cake.

A couple of weeks ago I got to be the celebrant at a Viking Wedding! We had so much fun putting together a fabulous ceremony (even if I do say so myself) And although it rained and rained and rained that weekend - we called in the sunshine for the ceremony and photos ;) It was extra epic because everyone came dressed appropriately... except that one guy - see if you can spot him.

This really is a small marriage! But would you want it? Part of the magic of the getting married is sharing it with your loved ones. And there is something really important about being witnessed when you declare your love and commitment.... but on the other hand.... This could be a unique and truly intimate experience, something that only the two of you share ever. And that sounds romantic and perfect for some folk... Lucky there are options :)

So nervous at Sunday's wedding for two of the sweetest people I know - Annie & Chris. Annie's beautiful dress had a pearl encrusted bodice. There were a few tears, lots of laughs, games on the lawn and the confetti was spectacular!

What a remarkable moment this was.

During our first term of Government, we passed one of the biggest and most significant pieces of reform in WA history.

Voluntary Assisted Dying laws offer dignity and compassion to Western Australians suffering at the end of their lives – the importance of which cannot be overstated.

These laws give Western Australians who are terminally ill the right to end their suffering at a time of their choosing, while ensuring that the necessary protections and approvals for these decisions are in place.

The path to passing this Bill was complex and challenging, and every person involved played a critical role in its passage.

I am immeasurably proud of my Government, and the families and groups involved, who worked around the clock to progress these laws while protecting the over one hundred safeguards included in the legislation.

While this photograph was taken over a year ago, it is a moment I know I will never forget.
