A day in my Celebrant life.
Yesterday I drove to Whyalla, past the iconic Southern Flinders Ranges, huge windmills making clean energy, to the beautiful Ada Ryan Gardens for an intimate elopement under a huge Moreton Bay Fig tree. The gorgeous couple have made Australia their home and are of the Hindu faith. They chose to marry under Australian law, and have a traditional Hindu wedding later. The bride’s mum bought the touch of a Hindu wedding to the day. She bought flowers, small statues of Ganesh and incense. I learnt so much about the Hindu religion and rituals.
After this wedding I drove to Quorn to meet with an older couple who will marry in later in the year. I loved hearing the story of how their love blossomed.
Then I drove back home through the quaint towns of the Southern Flinders, all the while watching out for kangaroos.
Gee I love my Celebrant life ♥️.

Is the cost of living putting a halt to your wedding plans or do you dislike being the centre of attention?
Escape the limelight and focus on what truly matters - your love for each other. An intimate elopement ensures a heartwarming and wallet-friendly start to your forever together.
If you would like more information about how you could make an elopement a reality I would love to have a chat.

I love travelling the world. I was fortunate to be able to travel to Scotland and Ireland recently. I have Scottish and Irish ancestors. I loved connecting with the lands of my ancestors.
Did you know that during your wedding can also connect with your heritage? If you have Celtic ancestry you could include a Handfasting, Jumping Over the Broom, sharing whisky and heaps more ways. And I love including rituals in wedding ceremonies to make it uniquely yours.
Below are a few photos from my travels in Scotland and Ireland.

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of being the Celebrant for Sharnii and Trav at The Bluff. What a fun relaxed ceremony with a beautiful backdrop of the view of Port Pirie and Spencer Gulf.
The bride and groom and the Bride’s children performed a Sand Ritual. They all loved doing it - especially the children. This is a fantastic way for all the children to be involved. And Sharnii’s son walked her down the aisle and presented her to be married. One very proud boy.
Oh and even though the view was awesome it was a challenge for some of the guests to find the venue - they got lost but eventually found us 🤣🤣

I absolutely love the diversity of venues I ‘find’ in my role as a Celebrant. Places that I have never heard about before.
This weekend I’m in the Adelaide Hills experiencing the serenity of my surroundings and getting organised for a ceremony rehearsal tonight. Tomorrow is the BIG day for a couple!

Well it is time for me to get creative After watching heaps of YouTube tutorials on Handfasting it’s time for me to make a Handfasting cord. My supplies have arrived so time to get started. Of course the cord I make is not going to be plain one, although the fasting cord can be as simple as different coloured ribbon, strips of tartan material or some material from the wedding gown or other special material. The couple can choose to make their own cord or I would love to make it for them. After the ceremony the Handfasting cord can be framed or used in other ways in the couples home.
Because my heritage is Celtic I can’t wait to do a Handfasting.

In October I had the privilege of being the Celebrant for my granddaughter Kelsey and, her now husband, Nick. It was special because she was my granddaughter and also because it was my first gig as a Celebrant. Neither Kelsey or Nick like being the centre of attention. So there were no ‘extras’ like sand ceremonies or poem reading we managed to incorporate some special ways to reflect this special personalities.
