Hi, I’m Karina and I’m an Authorised Marriage Celebrant and the proud owner of Moon River Ceremonies. A lot of people have asked “Where does Moon River come from?”. The easiest answer is it’s the nostalgia of celebrating so many milestones along the Fitzroy/Toonooba banks under moonlight. That and Jim’s Ceremonies was already taken.

The other question they ask is “Why a celebrant?”. Well, I’ve always enjoyed event planning and organisation, so after many winding roads, I came to the realisation that as a Celebrant, I can help create events for so many of life’s significant milestones.

And now, my dream is to create beautiful and bespoke ceremonies that will become one your favourite core memories. And you know what they say! If you can dream it, you can achieve it!

So, what can I help you achieve? Personalised and meaningful ceremonies that reflect your values, beliefs, and desires. I’m not Marie Kondo but I’ll still spark joy. Depending on your ceremony, I handle various aspects, certainly the legal paperwork but specifically the designing and writing of the ceremony, including vows or speeches if required. Coordination of the necessary logistics and just making sure everything runs smoothly for your ceremony or event. I also offer open and honest communication (seriously, ask me anything!), a lot of creativity and a bit of pizzazz.

𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑺𝑰𝑳𝑽𝑬𝑹 𝑴𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 | The Barn at The Mountain

The Barn at the Mountain is set at the foot of the mountain Gai-i on Mt. Wheeler Road. The 500 acre property is also home to our riding school, Capricorn Equestrian Centre.

The rustic open wedding barn was hand made with love, from timber milled out of fallen trees after cyclone Marcia. Surrounded by festoon lit green lawns, native wattles and grevillea’s, grass trees, iron bark scrub, rustic timer fencing, the stunning Barn, along with some secret caves there are endless backdrops for photos.

The venue is currently do-it-yourself, or you can hire in the experts to do the jobs for you. We give couples the venue over 3 days, to decorate, enjoy the special day and then then last day for tidy up.

There is also the opportunity for guests to bush camp or caravans and glamping tents can be hired in for the night. We are located only fifteen minutes from the from the seaside town of Yeppoon, with it’s pristine beaches, accommodation and Airbnb's, many couples hire transport to ferry guests home at the end of the evening.

We attended primary school together and then went our separate ways. Our paths crossed years later in 2017 at our local pub. After a few hiccups along the way we came back to each other and by 2019 we became inseparable.

In 2020 we welcomed our beautiful boy and in 2023 Beau dragged me onstage at a country music festival and proposed. After months of planning we tied the knot on the most magical wedding on the 18th May 2024.
