So happy the weather gods “played nice” yesterday for Siobhan and Zach’s ceremony at Roma St Parklands. (But even if it had rained, we had no reason to worry, as they had cleverly chosen the Harry Oakman Lawn, which has its very own pavilion… a perfect plan B option. Check it out if you’re looking for an outdoor park setting in the city, with a fab wet weather option).
It was a gorgeous afternoon, and a heartfelt ceremony filled with Zach and Siobhan’s very own awe-inspiring words of love. Aaahhh.

Today I got to team up with one of my absolute faves, the lovely Liz from at the marriage of a fabulously fun but very private couple, so no pics here... But I do want share one of the greatest lines of all time from the groom’s vows.

It's two years today since we adopted our goodest girl, Raya.
From the gravel roads of the outback, to our couch.

She'll still steal food if you give her half a chance, but hey, she's a survivor... so it goes with the territory.

We chose the name Raya because it means 'stripe' in Spanish. She is literally stripey all over... even the roof of her mouth has stripes! But I've also discovered it's a Hebrew name meaning 'friend'. How perfect is that?

We adore her, and she adores us. I can't tell you how lucky that makes us feel.

𝙁𝘼𝙌... "𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙖 𝙬𝙚𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙮 𝙪𝙨𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚?"

This would have to be my most commonly asked question.

Based on experience, the golden window (for a civil marriage ceremony with guests attending) is about 20 to 25 minutes, from the moment you walk down the aisle, to the moment I introduce you as Newlyweds.

Anything less, and it will have that feeling of being "over before it began". This can leave you all feeling a bit shortchanged, and take away from the sense of occasion on such a special day.

On the other hand, if a ceremony goes on... and on... beyond say, 35 minutes, it will probably feel like it's dragging on unnecessarily.

🐻 Just like Baby Bear's bed, we want your ceremony to feel "just right", so plan for 20-25 minutes, then add some 'contingency time' into your run sheet.

I recommend an extra 10-15 minutes around the ceremony as a buffer, so if something unexpected crops up - like an ill-timed shower of rain, or a VIP guest runs late, we can move the start time slightly without upsetting your entire day plan. And if everything is going along swimmingly, awesome! You can enjoy those extra minutes hugging and chatting with your guests after the ceremony, or grabbing another glass of bubbly.

If you're eloping, that's a different kettle of fish... your ceremony is likely to be more like 10-15 minutes, tops.

If you've chosen to do a 'legals only' marriage with no ceremony at all, that can be accomplished in about 2 minutes. (Blink and you'll miss it...😉)

So there you have it. My 'most asked' question, answered.

Leanna and Chris’ wedding at Maleny Manor was breathtaking in every way, and I just adore their stunning images, captured by the truly talented @amieforbes.photo. Something that really stood out for me as I looked through their gallery was the inclusion of their kids at different stages. What a perfect example of how to incorporate your children into your ceremony, with just enough of the spotlight to ensure they feel special and included, but without too much pressure to be ‘on show’ for too long.
