Our friends at Once Upon A Picnic Co. producing another amazing Un'Wine'd Picnic set up for our guests.
This particular set-up included a peacock chair for the bride-to-be, with "blossom pink" the colour theme of the day.
The ladies enjoyed 3-hours of good food, wine, and sunshine on the grounds of Coolangatta Estate. 🥂

🍇Savagnin🍇
Like many others in the Wine Industry, we planted Savagnin thinking it was Albarino - a Spanish variety.
Savagnin's home is in the Jura region just near the Swiss border in France. It produces the world-famous Vin Jaune (yellow wine).
As a dry white, it is textured, high in acid and cellars almost as well as our Semillons.
These days, we blend our Savagnin with Sauvigon Blanc and produce the wine in a variety ways. Our 2021 Norma Elaine Classic is a drier style, perfect with seafood, whereas our 2023 12 Convicts is a semi-sweet wine paired perfectly with charcuterie and cheese 🍷

🍇TANNAT🍇
Originating in Mandarin in South of France, Tannat is a red variety highly recommended to us by Dr Richard Smart in the early 90's.
The grapes themselves have a thicker skin compared to other varieties grown on our property and hold up really well to our Summer rainfall. We can attain high sugar levels which then convert into a big, bold red wine - something you would not think possible in our region.
Tannat pairs well with red meat, rich sauces, and soft cheeses with a cellaring potential of 7 years.

In 1988, 2-acres of Sauvignon Blanc were planted on the eastern slopes of Coolangatta Mountain.
It wasn't until 1991, when our Chardonnay won a gold medal at the National Wine Show of Australia that we started to unlock our true potential as a premium wine grower of the Shoalhaven.
Fast forward 33 years, and we now have 25 acres of vineyards, consisting of 10 wine varieties, with our flagship variety Semillon having won over 1000 awards during this time. 🍷

We recently got to celebrate the 42nd annual trip of Nathan's family visiting the Estate going back to the 1980s when his mother Julie Walker stumbled upon the property and decided to make it a regular trip.
Family has always been one the core values at Coolangatta Estate, and it's always so lovely seeing many other families returning on a regular basis to share in their own memories & traditions.

Nathan was made famous back in 1999 when he became an original member of 'Hi-5'. He still holds a great passion for music, and in 2016, he was named 'Princess Cruises Entertainer Of The Year' along with being selected by Delta Goodrem in the 2019 TV show 'The Voice'
We highly recommend you take a look at Nathan's music along with his new album 'Hurricane'.
