COMMUNITY CRISIS CENTRE | Tuesday 13 June - Friday 16 June @ Singleton Youth Venue

Our community is heartbroken over the horrific tragedy over the weekend that claimed the lives of ten people who were travelling home after celebrating the wedding of a local Singleton couple.

We are proud of our tight-knit community in Singleton, and a tragedy like this will touch everyone in some way.

As we all band together to offer ongoing support to everyone who has been impacted, the Singleton Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC) will open a Community Crisis Centre from Tuesday 13 June - Friday 16 June 2023 at the Singleton Youth Venue from 9am till late to support anyone grappling with this unimaginable heartbreak. Trained mental health staff will be on hand to speak to all who need support, as well as triage people onto other support services that are available.

This service is being provided for those who need support. We request that any other inquiries about the incident be forwarded to NSW Police.

Our friends at Cessnock City Council will also host a Community Crisis Centre at Branxton Community Hall from 10am - 4pm.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims – those who lost their lives and those who have been injured, their families and friends, as well as our emergency services personnel who responded to such a confronting scene.

With an increased risk of grass fires continuing across large parts of the state, the Bush Fire Danger Period is being extended in 44 local government areas across NSW. Almost 50% of the hectares burnt during the whole season to date have burnt during fire activity in March.

If you are looking to conduct a hazard reduction or pile burn, there are still a number of rules in place outside the BFDP that need to be followed. For those in areas where the Bush Fire Danger Period has been extended, Fire Permits will still be required and you must notify neighbours and local fire authorities 24 hours before lighting up.

UPGRADES AT EARRIBEE RESERVE COMPLETE

Great news for playground lovers with the new upgrades at Earribee Reserve now complete with the new play equipment opening this afternoon from 3pm just in time for the weekend. 🥳

Earribee means “white cockatoo”, which is reflected in the design of the new equipment. We can’t wait for families to enjoy this new play space.

The upgrades were funded by the NSW Regional Housing Fund.
