Genki Fit has been providing fun, affordable fitness classes at the facility for 15 years. Learn more about them below.

"Genki Fit was established in 2009 by David Ellis, who while teaching in a small rural Japanese village came up the idea to provide health and fitness knowledge to regional communities that didn't have easy access to fitness programs. He chose to name the business Genki (元気) Fit: a Japanese word that can refer to health, energy & vitality.

The Ellis family have provided fitness and dance classes to Smythesdale and the wider community ever since. When David decided to take a trip around Australia with his wife and 3 sons, the business was taken on by Jaymee Ellis in 2018. Jaymee has been in the fitness industry since 2012 and previously ran her own business teaching dance, fitness and circus skills. She has a Certificate IV in Fitness and certifications in Pilates, Barre, Strong Nation, Boxing, Step, Circuit, and Reformer Pilates training styles.

Since 2009, Genki Fit has promoted and encouraged engagement in fitness activities and a healthy lifestyle within small communities by creating fun, engaging workouts suitable for all ages and abilities.

In 2022, we surpassed our 2000th participant. In 2024 we hit 2700. We are proud to continue supporting the local community achieve their fitness goals.

Genki Fit's mission is to make fitness accessible to everyone by delivering affordable, fun and inclusive fitness classes. The supportive, family environment provides much needed encouragement and support for members."

are one of our fantastic User Groups at the Woady Yaloak Recreation Facility. Learn more about them below!

Scarsdale is just 15 minutes from Ballarat Central, and we're an active part of the CWA Ballarat District Group. Friendship is central to our Branch, and we welcome new members to join our fun, diverse group, ranging in age from 25 to 85 (most are 50-65). Whether you enjoy cooking, crafting, gardening, or community service, there's a place for you at Scarsdale CWA.

We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 9:30am (except January) at Woady Yaloak Recreation Centre, Smythesdale. Our meetings include a Bloom Competition, and monthly activities like archery, weaving, and card making. We also gather socially at a local pub or restaurant on the first Friday of every month.

Each month, we support the Smythesdale Community Market by selling baked goods and crafts to fund our community projects. Members volunteer their time and donate handmade items like knee rugs for nursing homes and trauma teddies for Ambulance Victoria. We also contribute to local causes, such as the Linton Pantry and local primary schools, and respond to crises like bushfires and floods with fundraising and support.

At our core, we uphold CWA traditions, supporting women, children, and families, reflected in our motto: "Through Country Women, For Country Women, By Country Women."

The Woady Yaloak Recreation Reserve Committee of Management is holding their AGM Thursday 31st October from 7pm.

The Committee of Management is an incorporated association which oversees the management of the Woady Yaloak Recreation Reserve, which includes the stadium and multi-purpose facility, the oval, tennis courts, playground and BBQ, skatepark and cricket nets.

We have 11 user groups who utilise the facility on a regular basis, alongside community groups and sporting clubs who use the oval and indoor facilities for special events.

The reserve is a well-utilised space, with a lot of exciting projects both in the works and upcoming including the lighting upgrade around the oval, the netball and tennis court resurfacing and lighting upgrade, and the potential regional play space and new changerooms/toilets upgrades.

We are looking for interested community members and community groups to sit on the committee, either as general members or to take on a leadership position. We are a friendly group, and everyone is welcome. Meetings are held around five times per year.

We look forward to seeing you there – Thursday 31st October from 7pm at the Woady Yaloak Recreation Reserve.

Also in the afternoon we will have Linton Cricket Club playing on the oval.

Great day for sport, with potential for rain 😬 but hopefully it goes around us.

Such fantastic news for the Reserve!

More big news:

Two brand-new netball/tennis courts are coming soon for the Woady Yaloak Football Netball Club in Smythesdale, thanks to $700,000 from the State Labor Government.

Right now, young netballers are playing on cracked courts.

But not for much longer!

Congratulations to the club.

Am always proud to support you. 👏🏼

Hi everyone,

Please be aware that there is works being undertaken at the facility as of today to prepare us for the brand new lights for our oval.

Traffic will be diverted around the oval. There is currently no access to the Multipurpose room parking area (between the two yellow bollards) while the crews dig trenches,.

From the Woady Yaloak Football Netball Club page:

"⚫️🔴🟢Don’t miss your opportunity to receive free Footy Boots for season 2024⚫️🔴🟢

Huge thank you to the Western Bulldogs and their partners for supplying Ballarat Football Netball League’s Junior players with free boots this season.

Times are tough and this help from the Bulldogs is so appreciated by our community.

We don’t want any kids to miss out on their footy and are very happy to have payment plans for our club fees (which are already the lowest in the League)

We have to finalise our Woady Footy Boot order by THIS WEDNESDAY 5pm so we are putting the call out for any kids thinking of joining for the upcoming 2024 BFNL Football Season to sign up before Wednesday so you don’t miss out on boots!

We won’t be able to order them after Wednesday so this is the last chance.

We have limited spots for our U/11 and U/13 sides and would love to have your son or daughter join us.

Email Brodie at [email protected] if you’d like to talk about a registration plan or click on the link below to directly register for the club.

Register here - https://www.playhq.com/afl/register/ec4f6e

Any registered players yet to send their boot size through to your coaches please do so via the Stack Team App in your team chat!"
