Gold Coast City Brass Band is a volunteer, community based, not for profit organisation. Our Musical Director is Mr Danny Ellem.

Gold Coast City Brass Band is a volunteer, community based, not for profit organisation that has proudly served the Gold Coast since 1902. If it happened on the Gold Coast then the Gold Coast City Brass Band was there to help Celebrate the Occasion! We play a variety of brass band music (both modern and traditional) for the enjoyment of both the players and audience. We strive for the band, and ou

r individual members, to improve musically whilst still having fun in a relaxed atmosphere. We perform at events such as Australia Day Citizenship Awards, Anzac Day Parades, the Gold Coast Moncrief Community Awards, and many other community events including a variety of concerts, workshops and, of course, Community Christmas Carols. Danny has been a part of brass bands for over 36 years, ranging from Ipswich to Brisbane and now the Gold Coast. He has a passion for teaching new students and also developing existing musicians. We are a current member of the Queensland Band Association.

Remembrance Day 2024 - on behalf of the Gold Coast City Brass Band we wish to pay tribute to our past and present service men and women.

For those wanting to attend a service today, we proudly have MD Danny Ellem playing at Surfers Paradise at 11am - Cavill Park, Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise.

Joshua Stafford will be playing at Anzac Park, Marine Parade Southport at 11am.

Last week we held our AGM where we saw our new committee sworn in and the annual awards given to their deserving winners.

We were lucky enough to be officially joined by Dawn Crichlow OAM and Samantha Delmege Division 6 Candidate. We are extremely grateful to both ladies for giving up their time and assisting with the evenings proceedings.

We'd like to thank our previous Committee Members and congratulate our new members. Another year to have a full committee is positive and fantastic news.

We'd like to wish Surfers Paradise Brass Band the best of luck at the Queensland State Championships being held in Maryborough.

MD Scott King and his band have been putting in solid rehearsals, we will keep our fingers crossed for you all.

Our very own MD Danny Ellem will be joining Surfers along with Graham Robinson who plays regularly in both bands.

Ben Budden who has joined us from the UK is playing in a sold out show with The Griffith University Health in Harmony Orchestra; playing in Helensvale.

This is Doug. Doug lives within the area of our bandshell and has his own lawn mowing business. He is also a member of the Gold Coast Running Club.

While out and about, Doug noticed our gutters slowly getting full of leaves and reached out to us.

Today he offered his services as a "pay it forward" idea.

Like most places, we are a not-for-profit organisation and are extremely reliant on Volunteers. Today Doug took time out of his busy schedule to help us out.

Doug, THANK YOU for your help, time and effort. We cannot thank you enough.

As promised, we will be sure to pay this forward.

Our combined concert last Saturday went off superbly!

Our raffles on the day were a wonderful success in helping us put funds directly back in to the band.
This helps us cover insurance, building and instrument maintenance and uniforms to name a few.

We'd love to give a heartfelt shoutout and thank you to the following businesses.

Our final rehearsal before our super exciting featured concert!

This is genuinely a concert you do not want to miss. Surfers Paradise Brass Band Benowa Brass and the Gold Coast City Brass Band are joining forces in providing you with some brilliant pieces of music.

Our very own Danny Ellem MD will have one of his first pieces making it's premiere on the day.

Come along, listen to some wonderful tunes that will take you back in time or take you to your favourite movie.
Brass music is out there more than you realise!

We'll have a raffle operating on the day too in which you need to be present to win.

We will have eftpos facilities available on the day and if you're paying by cash, correct change would be a big help.

Our second last rehearsal before our combined concert with Surfers Paradise Brass Band.

Fantastic players will be on showcase and is a concert not to be missed.

Saturday 20th July at 2pm lead by MD Danny Ellem (Gold Coast City Brass Band) and finished with MD Scott King (Surfers Paradise Brass Band, featuring Benowa Brass.

A triple showcase concert, you will discover some old classics as well as the official public ‘launch’ of at least one personally composed piece.

📣📣 COMBINED CONCERT ALERT 📣📣

We are extremely excited to announce our upcoming public concert with the Surfers Paradise Brass Band

Saturday 20th July at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre, Somerset College - 2pm.

We are estimating to finish around 4pm.

Last year's concert produced some very quality sounds under Musical Director Danny Ellem (Gold Coast City Brass Band) and Musical Director Scott King (Surfers Paradise).

This is an event not to be missed.

Eftpos facilities are available on the day and if you are paying by cash, we ask if you can arrange correct money.

What a fantastic rehearsal last night. I thought I would bring out this old chestnut to have a quick run through. The band did well considering no rehearsal at all and we had the majority of our Trombone section missing.We do have several tuba positions available, so if you’re a new or old player and want to get back into playing and support our tuba section, please feel free to get in touch with us.
