Gold Coast City Brass Band

Gold Coast City Brass Band Gold Coast City Brass Band is a volunteer, community based, not for profit organisation. Our Musical Director is Mr Danny Ellem.

Gold Coast City Brass Band is a volunteer, community based, not for profit organisation that has proudly served the Gold Coast since 1902. If it happened on the Gold Coast then the Gold Coast City Brass Band was there to help Celebrate the Occasion! We play a variety of brass band music (both modern and traditional) for the enjoyment of both the players and audience. We strive for the band, and ou

r individual members, to improve musically whilst still having fun in a relaxed atmosphere. We perform at events such as Australia Day Citizenship Awards, Anzac Day Parades, the Gold Coast Moncrief Community Awards, and many other community events including a variety of concerts, workshops and, of course, Community Christmas Carols. Danny has been a part of brass bands for over 36 years, ranging from Ipswich to Brisbane and now the Gold Coast. He has a passion for teaching new students and also developing existing musicians. We are a current member of the Queensland Band Association.

Today we had the privilege of one of our players hosting an in house "Conducting Workshop", the very first of it's kind within the GCCBB.

Peter Downey provided knowledge, humour and the participants their very own baton.

Plenty of snacks, warm beverages and lunch was also had for the Saturday event.

Peter's aim is to teach and instill confidence in our volunteer members should our Musical Director (MD) not be able to attend. This allows the band to continue to develop whilst learning that all MD's operate a little differently.

Such events we hope will make the band stronger in years to come.

Thank you Peter and to those that were brave to try something outside their comfort zone.

Well done Bandies πŸ‘

First rehearsal turnout for 2025.
To be transparent, I am blown away by the members that have attended this evening.
It's hard to return after such a well deserved, short break.
Getting ready for our upcoming Australia Day Ceremony perfomance.
And not sounding too bad considering most of us haven't touched an instrument over the break 🀣

It was wet, it was humid, but not even this could stop our parade yesterday at the 2024 Neumann Steel Christmas party. It was a big turn out from our own members with some visitors from Surfers Paradise Brass coming along to enjoy the days music with us.

We'd like to wish Surfers Paradise Brass Band the best of luck at the Queensland State Championships being held in Maryborough.

MD Scott King and his band have been putting in solid rehearsals, we will keep our fingers crossed for you all.

Our very own MD Danny Ellem will be joining Surfers along with Graham Robinson who plays regularly in both bands.

Ben Budden who has joined us from the UK is playing in a sold out show with The Griffith University Health in Harmony Orchestra; playing in Helensvale.

Wishing you Gents all the best today!
