From Briefing to Extraction.

Over the last month, we've been releasing snippets of game play from our February 2024 deployment at Pax Hill in Ballarat, and we're proud to release the full version now.

Taken over the course of an extended duration skirmish mission, we follow Red Team as they brief, gear up and move to make contact with an informant who has vital intelligence on the location of a supply cache. Things don't quite go according to plan...

This kind of scenario is typical of what is produced at the VLSA on a monthly basis. For over 10 years we've been creating events that have a focus on Milsim style game play that provides an immersive, exciting and challenging, one of a kind experience.

The VLSA is powered by FragTag advanced combat simulation systems, providing non-projectile firing infra-red electronic taggers, variable damage and weapon modeling, extensive game customization, field resupply, simulated medical devices and other simulation accessories.

Our second faction for the conflict in the Pictish Republic is the Pictish Republic Intelligence Service (PRIS).

Like the Ancient Greek myth of Sisyphus, President Oswald Parsley is starting to feel cursed. No matter what he has done, no matter how noble his intentions, the rebel movement has not gone away. It has in fact spread like wildfire and is now almost out of his control.

This is why he had to form the PRIS, and the PMC recommendation from his mining associates has worked out well given the desertions within the PRAF.

Parsley knows the conflict is now at a tipping point. If he cannot stop the rebels soon, the Greater Telkaar Alliance (GTA) may as well walk in and take the capital. Whether they realise it or not, the rebels have become a proxy for the GTA, and their larger plans for the region. Despite what his critics may think, Parsley does love the Pictish Republic and this is why he must use the PRIS to act swiftly without remorse.

PRIS has received signals intelligence that the rebels are planning something big. Parsley has tasked the 23rd detachment PRIS to cut the head off this snake before it can strike and perhaps, finally restore peace to the Pictish Republic.

Here is some background to one of our factions in the scenario for O.N.E.24

Freedom For Ashuwan (FFA)

In the space of 12 months, the FFA has grown from a small, lightly armed collection of resistance fighters to an organised and effective insurgency.

The FFA is led by Edward Blackwood. He and his family have lived on the island of Ashuwan for generations. His background was in farming and his family ran a small farm and harvesting business. Business was good and the family was prospering, until the new president came to power. Under his regime the Ashuwan farmers have had to pay higher taxes and have had their dividends for their harvests halved.

Edward’s father, Gregory, began a movement to protest against the new President's laws and taxes. At one of the very first protests Gregory was killed when the President ordered the protesters dispersed and ordered any and all means to be used.

The death of his father shook Edward so badly that he vowed to do everything in his power to bring the president to justice. Disillusioned with the lack of progress the protests are having, Edward decided to fight fire with fire and began a civil insurgency.

Despite the rebels taking serious losses over the last year, the ruthlessness of the Pictish Republic Armed Forces (PRAF) has only increased support from within the local population. With assistance from the Greater Telkaar Alliance (GTA), the FFA now boasts a brigade strength force, with concentrations working out of safehouses in the island's large towns. The 12th FFA Company is now poised to strike a critical blow to Parsley’s regime, but the plan won’t be without its complications…

The situation for ONE24 is a continuation of the VLSA’s year-long scenario taking place within the Pictish Republic, on the islands of Pict and Ashuwan.

The Pictish president, Oswald Parsley, was elected in a landslide but there are suggestions that he bought his presidency with support from local mining magnates. Since taking office he has instituted legislative changes that have made it harder to displace him and created several policies which inherently disadvantage the people of Ashuwan.

Parsley used the Pictish Republic Armed Forces (PRAF) to ruthlessly put down protests that occurred on Ashuwan and this spawned the Ashuwan rebel movement.

Despite suffering major losses throughout the last twelve months, the rebels have struck a few important blows including the recording and release of videos showing the truth of the Ashuwan islanders plight.

In response, Parsley took total control of the local media in an effort to prevent the videos getting out and to influence what the people of the Pictish Republic hear.

Some footage did make it to the outside world however, and the Greater Telkaar Alliance (a regional superpower) have started to provide the rebels with arms and training.

Over time many people on the island of Pict have started to realize the truth of what is happening on Ashuwan including numerous high ranking PRAF officers. This led to many PRAF troops refusing to engage the rebels and change sides.

With assistance from the GTA, intelligence leaked from the PRAF and the ever growing number of people joining the cause, the rebels are finally in a position to take a chance at overthrowing Parsley.

In a bold but desperate move Parsley has employed mercenaries recommended by his mining associates and created the Pictish Republic Intelligence Service (PRIS), a dedicated paramilitary group answerable solely to Parsley. They are tasked with taking whatever actions they deem necessary to end the rebellion once and for all.

For players at ONE24, what happens next will be up to you. Will you stand by the President or join the rebels? The future of the Pictish Republic is in your hands.
