Despite the hot, humid weather we still managed to get a wonderful display of cut blooms and arrangements for this year’s show. A huge thanks to all the treasured regular exhibitors and especially to those who travelled (some very long) distances to be with us. To the judges and assisting stewards a heartfelt thanks 💙
Well done 🙌🏻

If you are planning to snip a few roses, hydrangeas or perhaps a native bloom and bring them in to the show …

a) that would be awesome and we’d love you to, and

b) don’t forget to bring them in a green or clear glass bottle !

It is a rule of showing cut flowers that they be displayed this way so that the judges can pick up the bottle to inspect all aspects of the bloom from every angle.
See you at the show 🌼🌸🌺🌹🌷🌻

I hope everyone has had their pot plants out in this lovely rain ! It will give them a much needed boost to look spectacular in time for the show.
Remember, when entering a pot plant in any class, it must be only in one pot. We can’t allow a plastic pot inside a display pot. It must be grown in the display pot.
Can’t wait to see you at the show 🌸🌵🌸🌵

A message from the President

I am writing to advise that the 2022 Bendigo Bank Stanthorpe Show has been postponed. This has not been an easy decision for me, and members of the general committee. A number of factors have been considered in making this decision. First and foremost, the health and safety of our many volunteers, exhibitors, stall holders and the people who attend our show, was a major consideration. Another major consideration was the financial implications if we went ahead and then had to cancel at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances or government directives.

I must emphasise that we are just postponing the show. We are looking at all options that are available to us to continue this great tradition at a later date. The annual agricultural show is a great event and whilst ours is traditionally the first show of the Qld show season, no matter what time of the year it will be held, it will one event not to be missed. We will discuss the options available to us with Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Shows, the Showmen’s Guild, sponsors and other key stakeholders in relation to a suitable alternative date.

We encourage you all to renew your 2022 Stanthorpe Agricultural Society membership. Your membership not only provides entry to our show, and Tenterfield, Allora, Killarney and Warwick shows, but also supports the operation of the Society throughout the year. Our members are important to us and we encourage you to remain passionate and supportive of the Society through troubling times. You have done this before and I am sure you will continue to support us into the future.

We will provide further advice about options and dates as the information becomes available.

Let us get through this current change in the health of our state and come out the other side healthier and ready to party at the show.

Your president,
Boaty

QR CODE SYSTEM IN PLACE AT STANTHORPE SHOWGROUNDS.

Everyone, the Stanthorpe Agricultural Society has implemented a QR code system for anyone visiting Stanthorpe Showgrounds. Currently the code is with the caretaker and on the office door, and attached to this post. More codes will go up around the grounds during the week. There is also a separate 'out' code at the exit points that you can scan when leaving the grounds. This will enable the Society to comply with Qld Health COVID safe requirements for businesses and venues. Please comply and scan the code upon entering Stanthorpe Showgrounds and scan every day that you are on the grounds. If you don't have a phone, or you have a phone that doesn't scan, please text your name, phone number, email address and the time you are on the grounds to 0428 195 202. Records are only kept for 56 days then deleted.

Now is the perfect time to be dead heading your roses for blooms to be ready for the Stanthorpe show (weather depending of course 😬). This article has some great tips for blooming success. In a week or two we will be posting a video on how to present your roses for show and what the judges look for. Stay tuned and happy snipping 🤩

We are so excited to be holding the first Agricultural Show in Queensland in 2021.

Due to the Covid pandemic however, there will be a bit more work involved in helping everyone stay Covid Safe.

If you can spare some time on the Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday of the show week and would be willing to help take entries and set up the display, I’d really appreciate the assistance to make sure the display is better than ever.
Please give me a call if you’re keen.
