‘Tis the season to be engaged and to start planning a glorious wedding to celebrate the fact that:

Top tip- once you have decided on a date, lock in your vendors! There such a thing called “hot dates” in the wedding year- these are dates that book out FAST as they are usually in peak wedding season OR tag onto a long weekend. It makes it a lot harder to secure your dream team if you don’t plan ahead...

Sometimes we can fall prey to leaving things to the last minute, but it’s as simple as sliding on into my DM’s and we will get the ball rolling from there. Simples!

LOVE POTIONS

“The day started in many ways like any other, Sana got up and got ready for work and made her way to Ramsay Pharmacy Whites Hill and no doubt had another busy day ahead of her preparing medicine and working hard for her patients in the dispensary. She was passionate about their wellbeing, and took the role very seriously and just knew that this was the direction she wanted to take her life.
On this same day, Jack had been invited for an interview at the same pharmacy as an intern, he was still a student and arrived hopeful at the prospects of where this exciting career in medicine would take him. Amidst a sea of science, two people were about to be brought together…

Perhaps it was the fluorescent lighting, or the feel good vibes of the healing medicine, but family and friends there was chemistry in the air and it was not the pharmaceutical kind, no no, Sana had caught Jack’s eye the moment he first laid eyes on her and thought she was just… beautiful. There she was, a vision in her pharmacy uniform AKA the Ben Casey, oozing intelligence, and his jaw hit the floor quicker than he could say “wowzer”.

Lo and behold, that same chemistry had Sana all giddy too, as she overheard him saying he was here for an interview with that faux British accent, she went all wibbly and hid out the back, blushing as her colleague saw exactly what was going on an proceeded to tease her that Sana had a crush.”

Yep, you guessed it, it was the beginning of their forevers. I have the biggest soft spot for these two. Raise your glasses for the McKevitt’s.

The togetherness of love in relationship, the big things people do, the little nuggets of affection, the lingering kisses, the thoughtfully bought favourite chocolate bars when you fill up at the servo, the secret code text messages that only you and your loved one know…

The silliness, the intimacy, the warmth in your tummy, the “hurry home babe” notification on your phone when you’re in your final hours of the workday, secretly checking your partner out as they do everyday tasks…

The romance, oh the romance. Folded up love notes, writing on steamed up bathroom mirrors, cheeky butt squeezes as you make dinner in the kitchen.

Rocking out to your favourite jam, making forever plans, curating a home together, building your lives in partnership, making family memories.

Planning an utterly kick ass wedding.

The beautiful story that you wove about sana and I meant so much. The printed vows looked amazing. The fact that you took care of all of the logistics of the ceremony on the day was just amazing. Finally, best best part of your gift to us were the little moments that you gave us between each segment. Those moments were truly the moments we will remember for ever. THE EXTRAORDINARY LOVE

“Some four years ago, Phoebe and Dwayne were on respective nights out and met one another in the line outside Old Soul, poised and ready for a night of drinking and good times, but alas Cupid decided this wasn’t quite the right timing for them to really connect.
No no, a week later the magical love-powers of Tinder were hard at work and when Phoebe and Dwayne were an instant match, Dwayne couldn’t help but wonder how he knew this stunning girl? She was so familiar….
Dwayne knew he had to act fast and woo this beautiful woman so she didn’t slip through his fingers like sand, and whipped out one of his smoothest pick up lines he could think of and went for gold with this, “Matching with you is like ordering 6 chicken nuggets and receiving 7”.
Despite Phoebe being a vegetarian at the time, she must have appreciated this incredibly romantic bite-size poultry analogy and so began the messaging. The long and short of it is that eventually, the two teed up a date after laying down the law to one another that neither of them were looking for anything too serious.
The plan, everyone, was to meet go for a quick walk of 30 minutes, Phoebe was so nervous she tried getting out of the car before turning off the engine… but those initial nerves gave way really quickly as that 30 minutes turned into an hour and a half as Dwayne must have fired 150 questions and managed to condense his entire life story into that time, basically explaining what Phoebe would be getting herself into if this was to go any further.
They were both hooked, the conversations flowed easily effortlessly and they mutually felt the green flags- Dwayne since looks back on this knowing it was a moment of love at first sight”

THEY FOUND LOVE

“For Kharn, he remembers the day he first laid eyes on Chloe being the Gympie horse races when he was out with his friends and whilst he was there, decided to catch up with his mum and Brinlee.

There was Chloe, in a white summer dress with glowing auburn hair and those beautiful blue eyes and the cutest little smile he had ever seen. He was joking around with his mum and sister and he couldn’t help but notice that Chloe was laughing a little louder every time he made a joke- and he was pretty sure he wasn’t being that much of a comedian…
Anyway, that day came and went and it wasn’t until some months later that with a few brief meetings in passing along the way that Chloe and Kharn finally connected when Brinlee, Chloe and a few other friends all stayed at Kharn’s on the Sunny Coast to hit up a festival.

Afterwards, Chloe and Kharn started to text and they talked everyday. Though Chloe was about to head off to Europe for a month, it didn’t stop the connection that they felt, because as soon as she returned they just couldn’t stay apart any longer. They were drawn to one another, they were intrigued, and well, to put it simply, it just felt right. There was something really special there and both of them felt it in their hearts that this was not something to let go of.

It is hard to pinpoint an exact time when they truly fell in love, as love came so naturally, so easily, it was meant to be from the very beginning. Their lives just started to flow together, and perhaps the sweetest way to put it, is that by simply being with the other person, they felt - and they feel- like they were “home”.”

PINCOTT LOVE

I love watching on as my couples live their lives post wedding day, the joys of instagram being a visual diary of how my gorgeous Wedsters’ journey unfolds as a married couple.

Clarissa and Sam are just freaking amazing. A match made from high up in the stars. We message just recently and Clarissa summed up Pincott life pretty well, “So much has changed in the last two years… and our relationship is still the same pure, simple love”.

FUN WEDDINGS ROCK

(And boring weddings can take a hike.)

There has been many a time aprés ceremony when I’m hanging out with the guests and people make a point of coming over to say things along the lines of “we’ve never been to a wedding like that before!” or “that was really different to the other weddings we have been to!” or “wow, you really did your homework!”…
Gets me blushing a little, but super happy that it left such a positive memory.

I love hearing when people say they have previously been to great and memorable ceremonies- but I have heard quite a few folk say that they have been to ones where they were left feeling underwhelmed, that the ceremony wasn’t personalised, or that the celebrant didn’t invoke the feels.

No, no, NO! Not on my watch guys!

Let’s make it all about YOU, your story, your style, your vibe. I work very hard to get the tone right for each individual couple, believe me when I say no two scripts are the same!

Sometimes it’s all about the romance, my wording is a little more floral and my tone a little more collected.
Other folk are chasing a bit more energy, a bit more banter and I’ve been given the nod for some tasteful roasting.
Some people have the most bizarre story of how they ended up together, and they want the emphasis on their life events leading up to this day.
Some are a little of column A, B & C (with a sprinkle of X, Y & Z). The point is, is that it’s engaging, written with all my loving care and delivered with the utmost professionalism.

I CHOOSE YOU

“Back in 2018, Charlie had just moved to Brisbane and as he knew pretty much no one he was proactive in expanding his social circles. Keen to hit the ground running Charlie hit up his best mate’s friend called Fish for some midweek hangs, a low key parmi and beers on a Tuesday night. Plans were made to meet at Fish’s place first and so Charlie arrived, but Fish was busy still getting ready. At exactly the same time, Fish’s other roommate had about ten people over watching a movie next to where Charlie was awkwardly sitting at the kitchen table waiting.

Cue Maddie walking in to make dinner, having just come home from work herself seeing the ten randoms in her house which was a pattern that happened more frequently than she would like on a work night, and was shall we say, a bit frosty towards young Charlie who she had assumed was another one of the guys from the annoying unwelcomed group. Charlie tried to break the ice and didn’t get much back, as Maddie continued angrily cooking eggs but after a bit of persistent small talk Charlie saw her loosen and the awkwardness finally gave way to conversation.

After that first meet in the kitchen, Maddie told Fish that she thought that Charlie fella was in fact really rather cute, and that he should ask him to come along to her birthday party that weekend. Sure enough he did, and the feel good vibes were there as they chatted away and well everyone, things just blossomed and fell into place from that day on.”

WHO’S A GOOD BOY

Let’s talk about the true hero’s of our lives, our furry friends, the epicentres of our worlds, our beloved family pets. The ones who are there when we come home after a crappy day, the ones who come for epic snuggles and the ones who truly make a house a home.

Leo was the ring bearing legend who came running up the aisle at exactly the right moment, with the goods affixed to his collar. When I looked towards the whole crowd, EVERYONE was smiling. Leo was without doubt, a heart warming highlight of his hoomans wedding!

I am very pro dogs at weddings (if they’re ok with crowds!), they just bring the most awesome vibes to the day!

THE FIRST LOOK

As a celebrant, there is one incredibly special part of the day that flies under the radar of heart string tugging, emotionally charged treasure. It’s the behind the scenes moment where I come to greet you as you get out of the car and see you looking ahhhh-mazing in your full bridal look.

The hair! The makeup! The gown! YOU!!!

It gets me in the feels every darn time.

From the moment we first connected and you booked me as your celebrant, to all the planning, the chats, me crafting your story… it all distills to this day, and particularly this moment when I first see you looking the way you do.

It’s hands-to-my-mouth, heart skipping a beat, goosebumping preciousness. The “one last supportive hug” before you walk down the aisle.

It really means the world to me.

A FAIRYTALE

Though some time has passed since I got to be Bec & Josh’s hitcher, the memories I have of it come flooding in like a sea of bright colours and romance and love. We were quite literally by the sea with the most popping blooms and the crowd were just amazing. Love was very much in the air.

Bec had shared that she was quite the Disney fan, so I made sure I did my homework and nestled in some Disney quotes to personalise their day even more so. They were discreet, but they weaved in perfectly to the love story tapestry that was their ceremony.

They looked at one another with total adoration. Their guests cheered with enthusiasm. The waves crashed to shore. They kissed. They became husband and wife, saying yes to their very own happily ever after.

THE GOODS

It’s true. I really love weddings. Crazy about them. They are the ultimate celebrations of love, a party to celebrate two people going “I can’t imagine life without you, you’re my everything, you’re next level awesome and I gotta tell these people watching on!”

What a glorious idea! You need 5 people to make a wedding happen, but there’s no limit to how many additional people you can invite. My point is, little weddings, medium sized weddings, massive weddings… I love them all. Some folks do it on the cheap and get fish n chips for dinner (true story!), others go all out on a boujee seated banqueting feast.

Christian Louboutins or Converse, silk flowers or hanging garden installations, personal vows said in front of your people or privately exchanged handwritten vows the morning of your wedding, flying solo or multiple family members accompanying you down the aisle, Spotify or a quartet….

It is all FREAKING WONDERFUL.

Weddings come in a thousand variations and I’m here for all of them- at the end of the day it’s all about the couple and what they want. No matter the bells and whistles and all things extra, or the simplicity of a low key day, I will tailor make your ceremony to fit the vibe perfectly.

THE CHEMISTRY My oh my, this was one helluva wedding. Think totally dreamy and romantic vibes, pastel florals that make you swoon and the most brightly coloured, well-heeled crowd who showed how you *really* do a wedding. They sound like this, “I call upon the people here present, to witness that I, , take you, , to be my lawful wedded wife/husband/spouse” Simples right? They sure are. They’re no-frills legal. Buuuut, do you wanna say more than that? Embellish a little perhaps? Add some more insight? Share with them what you adore about them, what they mean to you and acknowledge how they’ve shaped your life? Promise some cool (realistic) stuff and pave the way for your kick ass married life by assuring them “I got you babe”? The possibilities are endless… so here’s what ya need to do: START COLLATING YOUR IDEAS YO! Get some notes going on your phone, in a book, scraps of paper that go in a special place… basically when you see something awesome in them, or you do something that you see brings them joy, then write those little nuggets down. A poem, a lyric, a quote. Put it all in there. When you come to *actually* start writing, then you have a heap of tasty ideas to draw upon, be inspired by and work with. Don’t look at Google. Chat GPT is a cop out. Create something yourself, and you will surprise yourself how much easier you make it if you start sooner rather than later. TRIVIA BY THE VINES I’ve always been intrigued by how the number of years people are married corresponds to a certain “theme” of gift for a wedding anniversary. The other day, I was listening to a cool UK wedding podcast which discussed paper as your first wedding anniversary gift which really got me wondering, where did the list of anniversary things originate? Surely there was someone responsible for assigning paper, wood, tin, crystal, etc as suggested themes for a present to wow one’s spouse?! Down the Internet rabbit hole ya girl went, and I discovered that a rather classy and sassy New York socialite by the name of Emily Post was the one who coined the list when she wrote it in her most famous book, “Etiquette In Society, In Business, In Politics, And At Home”. Post was revered by the great American public and they looked to this book as a sort of handbook for social conduct. “Etiquette” was quite a witty yet educated read and gave people confidence, encouraging anyone of any background to be considerate and aware of those around them. HALLOWEEN LOVE Yesterday I had the pleasure of being Kerry & Carters celebrant at Little Cove Platform in Noosa. Talk about a dreamy spot, private and away from the crowds overlooking Noosa, the surf and the sun shimmering over the sea as two people promised their forevers in an intimate ceremony in front of their closest friends. Kerry was a vision in her boho inspired dress, her hair loosely pinned with little flowers with the biggest smile of love and adoration when she locked eyes with Carter as he turned to face her. They held one another close as I shared their ceremony, sharing loving looks as I talked about what makes their love amazing and the roads they’ve travelled to this point on the day they become husband and wife. WINGKAT Ooooh I had fun today! So when I’m not getting my Celebrant on, my other passion is being a Disability Support Worker and today I got to be the wingwoman of the Mother of the Groom at a cracking wedding at the stunning @carrington_estate. I was by her side all day, helping her with all her personal requests so that she remained independent and didn’t have to rely on her family to constantly step in and assist her. It has been very cool to see a wedding through a non-celebrant lens and got me thinking about how important it is to ensure our less able-bodied guests are looked after on what is a massive day. Blazing sun or pouring rain, long walks on uneven ground, steps, wheelchair unfriendly terrain, lots of (often unfamiliar) people, a big change to every day routine and a whole heap of sensory things going on… It can be a lot for some folks. If hiring someone to be their wedding-assistant support-worker is going to make their day even more awesome, and guarantee that their needs are met, then go for it! . . .
