Breast Buds: fundraising initiative

For those who were aware of the upcoming fundraising event in November, unfortunately we have decided that it will need to be postponed.
Due to the ongoing COVID outbreak in NSW and VIC the only thing we can be certain of is making sure everyone is kept safe, so we will find a new date in early 2022 and then the show can go on!

It's that time again! The first of the month and your reminder to check your chest/pecs!

Just as important for the guys too! It might not be something you think about or perhaps have ever considered but breast Ca affects men too - so get to it and check your pecs! Use this as an opportunity to talk to your mates too.

Pop a reminder in your calendar for the first of every month and make it routine. And any changes, no matter how small, have a chat with your GP.

This is even more important at the moment, during these extended lockdowns. Accessing services is more challenging and at times daunting. But don't let that be an excuse not to check yourself and follow up on any changes. Remind your friends to do the same.

Meet the chicks behind Breast Buds

Who is Kris?

She's a registered nurse, and has recently taken the leap into floristry starting her own small business .floraldesign

Starting Breast Buds came from a desire to do something that combined her health education and promotion skills with her creative side, whilst creating a fun, supportive initiative that worked to raise awareness and much needed funds for people affected by breast cancer.

Kris has many years experience building community based health services that help reach people who need them the most. She's really excited about bringing those skills, injecting a heap of fun, and creating events that bring people together in the best way possible.

She has seen breast cancer affect many people in her life and recognises the huge positive impact that the right support can have.

Unlike Sarah, she's not the best with fun facts but she does have a bit of a life long obsession with David Bowie 👩🏼‍🎤 so there are bound to be Bowie tunes at every BB event 😉

Meet the chicks behind Breast Buds

Who is Sarah?

She’s an events & marketing professional, self-crowned queen of organisation, collaborator and stationery lover (post-it notes in particular).

The duck is her spirit animal and she channels this when things get hectic. You know the mode where you’re paddling like crazy underneath the water but above the surface, it’s all smooth sailing.

One of her most significant volunteer roles was raising $10,000 for The Hunger Project and travelling to Uganda to see the direct impact this had. This was an incredible experience that showed the power of people, communication, connections and events.

Kris is her sister from another mister and she’s so happy and proud to be setting up Breast Buds together. Sarah has had a few amazing women in her life affected by breast cancer and have even had her own scare (thankfully the lump was benign). Whatever Sarah can do to support the amazing women in her life, she’s there.

Sarah’s fun fact: Did you know that Queen Elizabeth II is a trained mechanic?

It's all about support!
Breast Buds is run by 2 chicks who are volunteering their time to make things happen, to raise much needed funds to support people with breast cancer.

Currently Breast Buds is deep in the process of planning a fabulous event which will absolutely promise fun, laughter and all those warm and fuzzy feelings you get when you know you're doing something really worthwhile.

We think this is a great fundraising initiative and we're hoping you do too! So, we need to ask a favor and make a call out for potential sponsorship.
