Volcano Experiment
🌋 Stay at home activities 🌋
DIY VOLCANOES
Since we’re back in lockdown with the kids, we thought we might try a science experiment with some materials we found at home. Turned out well I’d say! 😆
We’ve shared our steps and Items used below.
Liquid prep: water, food dye, vinegar, baking soda, dishwashing detergent.
Volcano base prep:
Cardboard box, newspaper, sticky tape, tall cup or old plastic bottle, plastic or large tray
Base prep:
Step 1: find an old cardboard box and cut a circle in the middle(big enough to fit a tall bottle or empty cup to fit in)
Step 2: put the bottle/cup in the circle and use old newspaper to wrap around the cardboard box connecting it to the tip of the empty bottle/glass. (We used sticky tape to make sure it stuck together)
Step 3: when volcano base is complete, place in a large tray (we used a plastic one) so when the liquid erupts, it can be contained which you can pour out. This can allow you to try different colours without getting too messy!
Step 4: we stuck an extra layer of white paper so London can paint pictures before the main event!
Liquid prep:
Step 1: pre mix 3/4 cup of water, food colour dye of your choice, 2 table spoons of baking soda, dish washing liquid.
Step 2: pour pre mixed solution in bottle/cup in volcano.
Step 3: pour 1/2 to 3/4 cup of vinegar in volcano.. then boom !
✌️🌋
