I learnt this interesting trick while attending a cupcake decorating course at MINT Cake and Party Supplies .

It is really difficult to get the right colour blue buttercream icing for a Bluey themed birthday cake. This is because of the yellow in the butter, it ruins everything 😫

To eliminate the yellow, you can use a tiny drop of purple colouring.

Now, I am not a blonde, but I did know that people use purple shampoo to stop their blonde hair going yellow. I didn't make the leap to colouring icing though. Those ladies at MINT Cake and Party Supplies are super smart!

Have you tried out Cooper Street Reserve Park yet?

It seems to be the talk of the town. All over social media for various reasons, and not all of them are good sadly.

We visited it during the school holidays and it is a great park with lots of fun play equipment and space. I am not sure I would host a party there though...

The lowdown:

It has all the important qualities for hosting a party,
🥳 Plenty of space to have a picnic
🥳 Lots to keep the kids entertained
🥳 Toilets
🥳 Parking

But it didn't seem to have many picnic tables, so you would need to bring a party table.

It is also huge, so you must have some good decorations so your guests know where to find you. And I spent most of the time running after my kids because they were not visible from one spot.

When I put my son's birthday cake in the oven, I realised despite my large collection of party goods, I did not have a square cake board 😳

Now I leave all my cake baking too late the night before the party so running to the shops to find one was not an option. But then I remembered that I never had cake boards when I was little. My parents used to cover the bread power in tinfoil.

Since I have embraced the life of minimalism in my kitchen, I only have 1 large breadboard and didn't really want to lose it for the day so I dug some cardboard out of our recycling bin.

Friday night take-out pizza box + tinfoil = the perfect-sized cake board!

If any of the parents noticed, they didn't say anything.

The best part, when we got home, I took the tinfoil off the cardboard and popped them both in our recycling bin

Ever wondered whats involved in running a balloon library? If you have been following me for a little bit you will know I hate balloons. And those foil ones are the worsed little sh*ts out there. I hate them so much so I started a Balloon Library. The idea is that foil balloons can be reused (a very limtied amount of times) So why not reuse the ones that are already out there instead of purchasing new ones? The fewer balloons that are purchased, the fewer balloons that are manufactured and thats a huge win!
