We are very sad to share news of the passing of José De los Santos Sauna Limaco, Cabildo Governor of the Kogi people. He was only 44 years old. Santos’ work protecting his culture and his people’s sacred lands will be irreplaceable. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and his community.

Back in February wildfires destroyed indigenous homes and affected approx. 1,000 ha of the Sierra Nevada. The Kogi have since been rebuilding the affected structures like this Nujue (ceremonial house) @ Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta

HER NAME: Susan Moylan.

HER 2019 RESOLUTION: Ousting out Tony Abbott from the Warringah federal seat and take over his role of Special Envoy for Indigenous Affairs.

HER FOCUS: Community, climate change, equality, a more inclusive Australia Day.

We were incredibly lucky to have Susan’s support when we launched Kogi Coffee. She opened our event and welcomed Arregoces, the Kogi envoy from Colombia, on behalf of the traditional owners of Australia. These photos are from a moving 2016 ceremony at a sacred Gamaragal site in North Head.

We wish her all the best on her quest and invite you to learn more about this amazing woman, part of the group known as the Stolen Generation.
