KEEPING IT LIGHT

Summertime celebration tables call for our floaty white linen overlays, 100 per cent French linen napkins in a delicious shade of sage, scalloped floral bowls in shades of n**e, alongside stem vases in sand, beautiful silver candle sticks and taper candles soaring almost a metre above the tables.

The best of the season’s florals in a palette of white and green echoed the flowers we worked with for the bouquets and the ceremony installation.

There’s something so effortlessly chic about wedding parties where the couple say here’s the colour, you choose the dress.

Corrie and Jake opted for an all white palette, with pops of n**e, and it was absolutely perfect for their summer wedding at the spectacular , set within the stunning bushland hugging the south coast of NSW.

A SINGULAR BEAUTY

Our love for mismatched bouquets is real.

While Corrie carried a cascade of pure white phalaenopsis orchids down the aisle, her bridesmaids each had an all white bouquet too - only each was created from a singular type of bloom.

For this summer wedding at stunning , we chose tulips, Siam tulips and reflexed white roses for the maids.

COUPLE LOVE

“I have nothing but high praise for Alicia and her team at Form Over Function. Her knowledge and professionalism throughout the months leading up to our wedding was exceptional, especially because of the uncertainty in our choice of floral and decor that we wanted.

Communication was always easy and she helped make the wedding day stress free.

The bouquets and flowers at the aisle were amazing and more beautiful than what we could’ve ever expected.

Her extra effort, especially coming back the next day and arranging small vases of flowers for all our guests to take home was a lovely touch for our family and friends to be able to remember their part in our special weekend.

PLAN Bs

Denial is never your friend on a wedding day.

An intense summer rain storm put paid to plan A - a ceremony set within the stunning outdoor chapel of .

We had no option but to switch gears and set up within the reception space, adding candlelight to the mix for more glow.

Swipe left to see how we then switched things out again when the I dos were done.

With guests moved to for pre dinner drinks and a groaning grazing station, we set up the bridal table where Kelly and Julie had exchanged vows, and the floral towers from their ceremony became the pretty, pretty backdrop to their celebration.

We didn’t skip a beat because Plan B was firmly in place months before the day. We never leave home without Plan B. Even plan C sometimes.

SAME BUT DIFFERENT

It’s subtle, but changing up the design of the florals by switching the mix in the recipe between each floral cloud, composing them in a slightly different way, adds another layer of interest to your tablescapes.

And we love pulling out elements and highlighting them on their own in beautiful vessels - swipe left to see for example a pink hydrangea that definitely deserved to be on a stage of its own.

For Julie & Kelly’s mid summer wedding, set in the rainforest magic that is , our brief was for soft, romantic, pretty florals; a palette of blush, ivory, sage, white and pops of amber and it was captured beautifully by .and.lensphotography

Our ribbed gold candlesticks, soft blush runners, 100 per cent linen napkins and delicate white hand-made ceramic vases all came together to add layers of soft colour and light on a day when it poured outside, but inside it was all things summer.

MAKE IT WARM

A winter wedding or event calls for a warm palette.

It will instantly make guests feel warmer, the space cosier, than opting for a light or white palette.

From our very first call Dominique embraced the season, and wanted a warm, moody vibe. No matter how many options we ran last her this one had her heart. Which meant it was absolutely THE one for the two of them.

The fire was lit in The Book Barn’s stunning sandstone fireplace - and it was time to just add Dominique & Redgi’s favourite people and let the celebrations begin.

LAYERS

Daina & Wei Te were one of the most thoughtful of couples we have had the joy of working with.

They wove meaning into parts of the day at every turn - touches that only they would notice but meant something to them, honouring those they love who could not be there, making sure their guests’ comfort mattered too. Diana’s brother not only walked her down the aisle - along with her Mum - but performed a song as well.

We attached hand-made name tags to the fans on chairs for VIP guests, had paper parasols on hand for guests on a hot, hot summer’s day, and when they fell in love with the idea of their ring boy bearing a nest to carry their wedding bands, engraved with their initials inside, we made it happen with love.

TOGETHER AT LAST

Girl meets boy.

This is the whimsical way Wei Te and Dania scripted their love story on the invitations we created for their guests.

What wasn’t included were words on the love they kept alive through the Covid years, unable to be in the same country, which were shared during a ceremony full of laughter, tears and unbridled joy.

On a hot, hot summer day, at one of the most spectacular venues in the country, they finally got to say I do before their most loved people, embracing the beauty of and celebrating their love for Australia and each other.

ALL IN THE DETAILS

No two sets of floral and candle styling sets were the same - but one element from each flowed through to the next to make it seamless and cohesive, while creating different points of interest wherever your eye fell.

Oversized white linen napkins, Matt gold cutlery, our gorgeous new range of white dinnerware with a petal edge, finely pleated glassware.

Alisha & Tarang wanted to treat their guests, at the end of day two of celebrations, to the ultimate dinner party, in an architecturally beautiful space.

Perched on a hill overlooking a spectacular bend of the Shoalhaven River, at the extraordinary venue that is , Alisha & Tarang exchanged vows at twilight.

Soft light. Wombats ambling along in the distance. Their very closest family & friends there to witness the start of their marriage, and the first of three ceremonies and four events across three days.

CHANGING ✖️ SPACES⠀⠀ the beauty of a blank canvas. sleek, modern and monochromatic, with just-reach-out and touch the Opera House and Sydney Harbour views, we transformed @quayrestaurant into a luxe, black tie party space with a distinctly French air for beautiful Mahalia’s 21st. We changed it up by bringing in crystal chandeliers, taupe linen lounges, bench seats and ottomans, vintage brass and marble coffee tables and glass and brass side tables. lush installations of winter magnolia blooms, roses, cymbidium orchids and more in deep red to blush, white to cream, cascaded from the ceiling, at the entrance and from within crystal vases on every table top. Each party zone had a slightly different feel - small tables dressed in grey linen with pale gold chairs made for cosy chat zones, another lounge area featured luxurious cream French lounges and armchairs, and there were also high bar tables with walnut bentwood stools to perch on and watch the dance floor action. Planning, styling, florals and furniture, lighting and decor hire by us.

COASTAL ✖️LOVE too windy to make buttonholes. but I thought about it ... 🙈😂. the beauty of gentle grasslands and meadows on the way to the sand and the sea. road tripping beauty at every turn.

HOLIDAY ✖️ WORK when you know a day spent working will be one of your holiday highlights, because, well, flowers. a market morning hunting for treasure; a day of the 17 vases spent making arrangements, from simple to complex, for a prestige property’s launch party in LA last night. yes, a party for a house going on the market. so civilised.

VITAMIN ✖️ SEA first swim of the year. and it’s delicious.

SEA ✖️ BREEZES for lauren and scott at @batherspavilion - a small slice of the styling for their gorgeous cocktail wedding by the sea. the brief was tropical luxe, so we brought in wicker, vintage cane and washed timber furniture to create a relaxed and chilled vibe, and styled with eclectic nests of vases in aged brass, gold patterned ceramics, carved timber boxes, ceramic curios and more. lush miniature tropical and rain forest plants abounded, including birds nest ferns, maiden hair ferns and bromeliads in bloom, as well as pops of colour via anthuriums, cymbidium orchids and heliconias. as for my team? hats off amazing — delivering all up two flights of stairs and transforming all in just under 2 hours (less 8 minutes but who was counting 😬). 🌴🌴🌴

IT✖️STARTED✖️WITH✖️A✖️DRESS layers of meaning: inspired by the hand beaded lace of the dress, then came the stationery design, and then the cake. for our gorgeous couple on the weekend, the dress designer painstakingly re-beaded and re-worked the lace to create the one of a kind fabric. cake maestro Sugablossom Cakes painstakingly and exquisitely recreated that same extraordinary one of a kind fabric lace in icing. and now the spectacular story tellers that are Papercrane Productions deliver this capture of both dress and cake, and it took our breath away. a beautiful, beautiful glimpse of the art that went into saturday's wedding. GREENERY ✖️ dreamed up for julie + kegan long before Pantone declared it the colour of 2017. suspect their choice this year will resonate more than last year's rose quartz horror (sky blue merging into sunset pink). first year they had done two colours as the colour of the year. now that's such a winning combination up in the sky ... but ... you get my drift. not one client went anywhere near colour of the year in 2016. we're still getting lots of briefs based on Marsala, the rich berry tone announced as colour of the year in 2015. As for greenery, has it ever not been the undeclared colour of the year always? loved always. Seen here in a hanging installation on the stunning terrace of the historic Bathers Pavilion.
