It was this moment that ensured we’d finish in P2 for Race 2. Whilst running off line to avoid a significant oil trail we found the mud.

Now that looks good on the door for 2025.Thanks Kate Lacey for your photoshop skills.

Well that’s 2024 done. Our best year ever!!

This weekend we we closed out the NSW Sports Sedan Championship for our 5th time in the past 10 years, becoming the most successful Championship winner in the 50 year history of Sports Sedans.

It was done in style, with an outright win of the weekend, which ensured an Outright win, Division 1 win and Club Championship win for 2024. The trifecta.

This adds to our 50K plate win a fortnight ago and a 3rd in the Precision National Sports Sedan Series.

Massive thanks to all that have made this possible, our sponsors Real Dairy Australia & Lederer Group, Steve Vigurs, Matthew and Michelle Butler of Steve’s Toyshop (owner of Camaro used in Rounds 1-3) and Geoff Taunton and all the crew at Marc Cars Australia (owner of GT SS used in Rounds 4-6, all National SS Rounds and the 50k plate).

None of this would be possible without the continuing support of my wife Bronwyn, thanks Honey.

We qualified 2nd for today’s race in damp conditions. Heading out for the race it was a drying track and a tough decision on what tyres. We went wets, many didn’t.

As we formed up without a full sighting lap what we didn’t see was the lake at the kink. This was lap 2. Glad I had some tread, plenty of the field went backwards.

We got a good start and lead from start to finish with a 1 lap sprint at the end after a safety car. Good thing everyone behind me was busy trying to stay straight too.

Reflecting on the 50K plate win last weekend, it’s quite an honour to be on the list of winners for this award which dates back to 1972. Many of Sports Sedans royalty have won in it in the past. (see list in photos)

Huge thanks to our sponsors Lederer Group and Real Dairy Australia and to all the team at Marc Cars Australia. This is for you.

And where did this come from?

Steven Lacey has like Matt in 4th, gone stealth and quietly built his way to a mega finish!

A whole new car, and style of driving greeted Steven in Tasmania. He slid and spun and kinda didnt have too much fun. Then... that grit and determination dug in and what the fn hay!

Congrats to Steven and the Marc crew for making this smiling NSW local and grinned and a top 3 winner.

Well that was our best weekend ever at Phillip Island.

Set PBs yesterday in qualifying. Best 1.31.33. Won two of the three Sports Sedan races, including the 50K plate, 2nd in the other race. We’ve been chasing that one for a decade.

Finished 2nd in the Sports Car sprint race and was travelling 3rd in the 1 hour enduro, but ran out of fuel with 1 lap to go. After 32 laps of 34 the car still ran a 1.32.1 to be the 2nd fastest lap of the race by anyone. Maybe should have been conserving the fuel better. Haha.

Massive thanks to our sponsors Lederer Group & Real Dairy Australia who have supported us during a huge year of Motorsport. This was our 11th race meeting for 2024, with one to go.

The team at Marc Cars Australia did a fantastic job in preparing the car that was super fast and reliable all weekend. I’ve lost count of how many laps we did of the Island. Thanks also to them for our 2nd place in the Marc Cars event for the weekend.

Certainly one of our best days at Phillip Island. Thanks Marc Cars Australia.

Pole and PB in qualifying for Sports Sedans and then backed it up with an even faster qualifying lap in the Sports Car class at 1.31.33, snaring P2.

Lead the Sports Sedan race from start to finish and then straight into the Sports Car race. Lead that one for a lap till passed by a current model GT3 Audi, which was no surprise given they qualified on a lap of 3 secs faster than us. Finished a clear 2nd.

Due to a medical emergency during the following race, the meeting was declared before our final race for the day.

Back tomorrow for 2 x Sports Sedan races and an endurance Sports Car race.

Awesome qualifying in the Sports Cars with a further PB lap and front row start.

Amazing first season in the GT SS, finishing on the podium in the last two Precision National Sports Sedans Series Rounds and capping off the Championship with a 3rd place overall.

To come away from Mt Panorama a winner is such a great feeling and having set a new PB laptime of over 2.5 secs quicker than we’ve every gone before is so cool. We qualified with a 2.08.47 and raced yesterday with a 2.08.86.

Huge thanks to all the team at Marc Cars Australia who own and prepare the car and our long time sponsors Lederer Group and Real Dairy Australia.

It’s been 7 years since we stood on the podium at National level in the overall competition.

Before and after shot for Race 2. Unfortunately clipped the wall and spun at the cutting but got away with it quite well, dropped a spot and finished 4th. Currently 3rd for the Round and 3rd in the National Championship with one race to go. Tune into 7plus at 4.05pm to see all the action. Thanks to all the team at Marc Cars Australia for getting it sorted for the last race.
