Kimberley Burrell is the creative brain behind The Marmalade Sky: an eclectic floral designer, event planner and general chaos maker. Having spent over six years (and counting) producing Children’s events for the Australian broadcaster, Kimberley decided it was probably a good time to venture into the adult world of events; weddings, birthdays, engagements, anniversaries, general gatherings full o

f merriment and the occasional kids birthday party (some habits are hard to break!). After flowering her own wedding in 2014, Kimberley fell in love with early morning wake-ups and the Sydney Flower Markets. Given that most brides don’t want to wake up at 4am the morning before their big day, many of Kimberley’s friends and friends-of-friends asked her to step in and take over the flower-reins for their wedding. In 2015 Kimberley completed her Cert III in floristy. A typical day in The Marmalade Sky studio is consumed with flowers, playing with flowers, thinking about flowers, studying flowers, eating, probably napping (those 5am visits to the flower markets will get ya!), shopping online for vases and floral vintage chairs, pinterest-ing event themes & table settings, more napping, analysing the pros and cons of using gold sequins as a table runner, maybe some dinner and then bed.

When I arrived to set up Bec and Matt’s wedding, the groom and his mates were doing backflips into the pool while listening to Taking Back Sunday really fu**in loud, and I knew instantly, I was in the right place (literally and figuratively). 🖤🔥

I held my baby boy tight as he left this world yesterday, along side his Dad and baby brother. I can’t even fathom a life without you now, my sweet angel.

❤️

Chunky has been the heart and soul of The Marmalade Sky - many of you were lucky enough to meet this lil guy, or watch his story unfold, and enjoy snuggles with him during consults or while visiting the studio.

Watching him race around the warehouse, picking up stray flowers or running off with our buckets are core memories that will stay with me forever. The love you all have shown both Chunky and myself will never be forgotten.

I am beyond devastated, so please bear with me this week while I take some time to grieve, and cuddle my lil girl Annabelle as she also comes to terms with a life without her brother.

And please, cuddle your fur babies a little tighter tonight, and think of my gorgeous boy.
