This is what happens when I stay home and try to rest. One of my OCDs is cooking, for those of you playing along at home 😁
I oven roasted the truss tomatoes with evoo and salt. The pepino melon from earlier in the week became a corn and pepino salsa. Then a quick loaf of Turkish bread. Another salsa, this time pineapple, coriander. A gigantic walnut cinnamon scroll. A quick snack of Turkish toast with truffles goats cheese and the roast tomatoes. I also whipped up a 'chilli non carne' vegan chilli to go with all the salsas. (Forgot to photograph!)
I eat pretty well at home 😎

Made one last weekend for a function. Had to have a slice so I made another batch! Amalfi lemon & polenta cake. Mascarpone topping, lemon honey drizzle and toasted almonds. The cake is olive oil based so naturally I used evoo. This cake is light in texture yet so very decadent.
YUM!

Exhausted. Utterly exhausted. So tired, in fact, that I'm having an affogatto just to stay awake.
I don't drink caffeine.
So if you're gonna go....... Go all the way! A delightful sticky chai, crumbed eggplant (a personal favourite), and a pistachio affogatto with a pistachio crumble.
Read that last bit again. And drool! Everything's good, but that affogatto is magnificent 💃🎉

It is the stuff of gods. 🎉💃💖
I don't eat a lot of sugar but I'll turn back into a hummingbird for this! The lovely chef who owns the market is an absolute wizard. You will never know it's vegan, everything is so delicious!

The garden is full of berries. It's a shame to waste them. So I've made mulberry and native raspberry ice-cream with a french vanilla base. It is ridiculously good!

I'm in week 3 of baking my own bread.
I think so far, I've spent about $2 all up. I love those sesame seeds! The recipe is so simple, and I let the bread maker knead and proof it for me. It couldn't be easier! Now, a few slices with butter, while it's still warm and fresh from oven 😻

I was actually here last Friday, but it was so lovely sitting in the sunshine that I forgot to post! This place is an absolute hidden gem. Everything is so delicious I just can't begin! I had what I thought would be a simple 'toastie'......oh no, no, no, it was so much more! Grilled mushrooms, caramelised onions and possibly several cheeses, on a zataar dusted focaccia. It was insanely good and super generous! Served with house made pickles that I had to have a second helping of. This place is a sister to and so has some of the best chai in Sydney. The chai mix is available for purchase so you can take the magic home. Finally, a chestnut financier. Oh my giddy aunt, this was divine! Plus, this is one of the only places open from about 8am to 8pm. A real game changer locally. Go now, try everything! 😻

This was the Ashleigh chai, incredibly generous serve for just $6.50. Made fresh to order. There are about 12 types to choose from, plus a range of vego dishes to enjoy. I had 2 onion bhaji, just $4! The bar is tiny, with great atmosphere, but very busy as it is so good. If you like your chai, this place will blow you away. Delicious! 😻

Oh, this? This is a yoghurt and native raspberry cake. The raspberries grow at the back door and there's a lot of them every day! I swapped half the flour with almond meal for extra decadence. Just the thing with a cup of tea in this frosty weather 😻

The sausage roll was perfect in this crisp weather. Oh My Days had so many good things I just bought a bunch of them. But for the record, there's lemon & poppyseed cake, Persian love cake, a cinnamon scroll & a ham & cheese croissant Vegan! What a lovely way to spend a winter afternoon 😻
