Made one last weekend for a function. Had to have a slice so I made another batch! Amalfi lemon & polenta cake. Mascarpone topping, lemon honey drizzle and toasted almonds. The cake is olive oil based so naturally I used evoo. This cake is light in texture yet so very decadent.

Exhausted. Utterly exhausted. So tired, in fact, that I'm having an affogatto just to stay awake.
I don't drink caffeine.
So if you're gonna go....... Go all the way! A delightful sticky chai, crumbed eggplant (a personal favourite), and a pistachio affogatto with a pistachio crumble.
Read that last bit again. And drool! Everything's good, but that affogatto is magnificent 💃🎉
And now I'm a hummingbird 😻

I believe it may also be vegan.

I don't eat a lot of sugar but I'll turn back into a hummingbird for this! The lovely chef who owns the market is an absolute wizard. You will never know it's vegan, everything is so delicious!

Picked 3 minutes ago from the garden, as I could see them from the kitchen window. They don't taste anything like the ones from the shop. These taste like ❤️💃😻

A spot of weekend baking. Apple cinnamon turnovers, apple cinnamon scrolls and a Turkish bread loaf. The pastries looked a little dark straight out of the oven but were fine after they'd cooked down. Now could you all pop around and start eating these please! 😁

The garden is full of berries. It's a shame to waste them. So I've made mulberry and native raspberry ice-cream with a french vanilla base. It is ridiculously good!

So this is what the Turkish bread I baked yesterday was like on the inside. Crispy base, soft fluffy innards, great rise. It is far too delicious and is still fresh today. I've not had the best luck with bread in the past, so this is a new era! 😻

I'm in week 3 of baking my own bread.
I think so far, I've spent about $2 all up. I love those sesame seeds! The recipe is so simple, and I let the bread maker knead and proof it for me. It couldn't be easier! Now, a few slices with butter, while it's still warm and fresh from oven 😻

I was actually here last Friday, but it was so lovely sitting in the sunshine that I forgot to post! This place is an absolute hidden gem. Everything is so delicious I just can't begin! I had what I thought would be a simple 'toastie'......oh no, no, no, it was so much more! Grilled mushrooms, caramelised onions and possibly several cheeses, on a zataar dusted focaccia. It was insanely good and super generous! Served with house made pickles that I had to have a second helping of. This place is a sister to and so has some of the best chai in Sydney. The chai mix is available for purchase so you can take the magic home. Finally, a chestnut financier. Oh my giddy aunt, this was divine! Plus, this is one of the only places open from about 8am to 8pm. A real game changer locally. Go now, try everything! 😻

Ever been to a chai bar? No? GO. IMMEDIATELY!
This was the Ashleigh chai, incredibly generous serve for just $6.50. Made fresh to order. There are about 12 types to choose from, plus a range of vego dishes to enjoy. I had 2 onion bhaji, just $4! The bar is tiny, with great atmosphere, but very busy as it is so good. If you like your chai, this place will blow you away. Delicious! 😻

Oh, this? This is a yoghurt and native raspberry cake. The raspberries grow at the back door and there's a lot of them every day! I swapped half the flour with almond meal for extra decadence. Just the thing with a cup of tea in this frosty weather 😻

, , the Sydney vegan market is packed with all sorts of delicious! Not to mention this magnificent hat that completes my Bond girl look lol
The sausage roll was perfect in this crisp weather. Oh My Days had so many good things I just bought a bunch of them. But for the record, there's lemon & poppyseed cake, Persian love cake, a cinnamon scroll & a ham & cheese croissant Vegan! What a lovely way to spend a winter afternoon 😻

Good old fashioned char grilled corn on the cob. With a pinch of flakes, and you're on your way to flavour town! Charring over an open flame adds a whole different dimension to the taste. A really good one 😻

I ordered some more delicious olive oil, and those good folks also sent me a sample of their new product; Chilli Crunch. Chilli & garlic, fried til crisp and suspended in olive oil.
It is so good I can't even begin to tell you! Here, I've teamed it with a slice of Monte Rosa tomato on sourdough toast with a good sprinkle of salt flakes. So simple but just magnificent! Chilli crunch has instantly become a kitchen staple round here. YUM! 😻

Oh, this? This silky, rich, chocolate mousse?
Is VEGAN! And made mostly of avocado. Ikr?!!
Raw cacao, agave syrup, a little almond milk and the avocado disappears and this decadent delight shows up in its place. Healthy and so delicious, you would never know this isn't the real thing.

A bed of delicious 'roses'. Fresh figs stuffed with toasted walnuts and goats cheese and wrapped in serrano ham. On a bed of wild rocket. Finished with ev olive oil and caramelized balsamic glaze. A delightful summer dinner.

I picked up a kilo of these beautiful white peaches for $4. I bought them from a stall in front of where they were grown; less than 40km from my house. They taste and smell so sweet, they make store bought seem like some terrible joke.

Really wanted a Portuguese chicken burger. Here's the vegan version! I roasted cauliflower steaks in the oven and used yeast flakes for the slice of cheese that wasn't there. It was so good I made one for dinner 2 nights in a row! Thanks to for an incredible and authentic tasting peri peri sauce.

Lamb fatteh- an incredible lamb and eggplant concoction, drizzled with a tahini yoghurt sauce, fresh garden mint and some pomegranate arils. Served with toasted pita chips. It's like a middle eastern nachos so naturally, I'm delighted

If we're going to have this kind of weather then I'm making a big pot of pandan water. Steeped ever so slowly and you can sweeten with a little agave. Traditionally it's served super sweet but I don't need that much sugar. So easy and so refreshing and delicious in the humidity. And at only $2 for the leaves, a low cost luxury!

A lazy lunch with what's on hand. Traditional shakshuka with cayenne and tomatoes from my garden and finished with a coriander and sesame dukkah. I was out of bread so a quick 3 ingredient vegan flatbread it is!
This was far too delicious!

Once again, the folks .plant.based have outdone themselves! This pork larb, or Thai pork and herb salad, is vegan except for the fish sauce I used. It is incredible! I used kaffir lime leaves, chilli, coriander, mint and lemongrass from my own garden. I served it in little lettuce cups, sprinkled with fried shallots. Even better than real pork 😻
