It’s been so lovely feeling the warmer weather slowly return. And in perfect time for the restrictions easing.
-
Let’s talk about table centrepieces for a moment. There are so many options for different styles + budgets. From textual runners to beautiful compotes spilling with blooms. There are so many different ways to incorporate different heights and textures to create impact. Personally I also love simplicity and think even simple bud vases with an abundance of candles can look quite beautiful + just as effective. Think reflexed roses, all different heights, alternating down the tables amongst candlelight. 🕯
Really anything is possible and I suggest being open about your budget and expectations with your florist. 🍂

“There is a common misconception that florists “play with flowers” and it only takes a day to build a whole wedding but that’s not reality.

It takes us a week to build a wedding plus hours beforehand to book, plan, and order. Don’t forget a day to recover plus a day to clean and reorganise.

Hopefully this will help justify the costs of labour.”

I received several beautiful requests for quotes yesterday. 🍂 So this is just a friendly reminder for those getting married next year, to book your favourite vendors now because the backlog of postponements has meant I’ve had to turn some lovely clients away. If you’re not sure where to start, start by just sending us an email and letting us know as much as you know about the day so far. You really don’t have to have all the details ironed out. 🖊 We’re here to help guide you into making the best decisions given your style, budget, and the season you’re getting married in. We’ll offer our experienced advice and we encourage questions! Planning your wedding flowers can be fun and made simple. Once you’re booked in, it’s also easy to add notes and make small changes if you’re not exactly 100 % sure on something or are inspired by something else in the lead up to your wedding.
I want everyone to be excited about planning their wedding and choosing vendors you love and trust is the biggest factor in enjoying the process. 🤎

The best advice I can give to couples planning a wedding is to choose creatives that you love and trust. 👌🏼

1. Give them a colour palette and 1 or 2 favourite inspiration images and then put your trust in their ability. Sometimes having 20 inspiration images that all look a little bit different can be more unhelpful and confusing for both parties.

2. Select pieces that are significant and be open and honest from the beginning about your budget so that we can give you the best advice and guide you through some of those decisions with our expertise.

3. And most importantly, Floral design is an ART form and resources are seasonal. Be open to new ideas as we are working with nature. Stay flexible and open minded during the planning process while we work to refine your vision for the day.

Lara Sawyer is a freelance floral designer based in southwest Sydney from Newcastle NSW who specialises in weddings & events. Lara’s innate passion for wild and romantic florals has stemmed from her love of the natural garden world and artistic style. Inspired from her love of fine art and her grandmother's garden, Lara has always held a deep affection and interest in colour, texture and beautiful florals. Studying a Certificate 3 in Floristry and Design at Pearsons School of Floristry in Darlinghurst, she has developed her skills and nact for thoughtful design. Lara delights in planning weddings with couples who truly appreciate the art and skill that goes into floristry, and the time spent in attentive planning and selecting the highest quality blooms.

Lara’s dedication to floristry is found in the joy and fervour she experiences working with and creating lush, delicate and beautiful designs with sweet scented florals. Floristry does not feel like “a job” to her but rather it is privilege to do what she loves for the enjoyment of others.
