Back in Sydney after a wonderful, warm month long holiday in the UK surrounding, even immersing, ourselves with our family.
Precious times making precious memories.

As per my email sent prior to leaving - I am still on leave this coming week (off on a little escape for some jet lag recovery) returning to Celebrant duties on Monday 2nd September.

Professor Dominic Rowe and yours truly having a bit of fun as we present a stunning gold and diamond ring donated by Peter & Julie Katsoolis to the winner at the MND Gala Dinner at W Hotel raising funds for Macquarie University Motor Neurone Disease Research Centre.
Dom held on to the ring in its gift bag so tightly all night that the presentation in the now very crumpled bag was hilarious! It had to be done!
A light hearted moment for a very serious cause.

It's been a big week.
Apart from preparing and officiating 3 funeral services and a script for my MC role tomorrow night at a Gala Fundraising Event for MND Research....
On Tuesday evening we held a Regional Meeting for Australian Marriage Celebrants (AMC) Members in Sydney's North and Sydney Northern Beaches where the President, Annemarie McDonell was our Guest Speaker talking about the new website.
We also covered the changes where the law now requires us as Authorised Celebrants to ensure we are satisfied that both parties are consenting to the marriage by having separate meetings one on one with each person prior to the marriage.
A big responsiblity and obviously the subject of deep discussion amongst us all. So many "what ifs".
I also completed my Ongoing Professional Development obligation today, something I put off and put off but glad it is now done as it also covers the legal obligations and again, real consent.
A refresher and reminder of just how important our role is, not just delivering a ceremony or service but ensuring it is all done correctly, legally and safely.
Sometimes we can forget just how much responsibility we carry as an AG appointed Authorised Marriage Celebrant.
