This will be a celebration of women in sport and our little clinics.

Amazing two days at Port Douglas Surf Life Saving Club for the Hydrothon Clinics which our proudly supported by Macquarie Sports

We have now been to the furthest south surf club Clifton Beach Surf Life Saving Club and now the furthest north club for are clinics.

Thank you the the Queensland Government, the mentors, club members and kids for your hospitality towards us make this an amazing weekend

We are about to start our clinic way up here at Port Douglas Surf Life Saving Club.

The support from the Branch, clubs and members has been amazing.

It all kicks off tonight with our welcome dinner.

This is how excited we are to welcome with .doyle and to our club tomorrow!

Being a remote club about 1,800km away from the Surf Life Saving capital of Australia, we don’t often get visits from amazing and inspiring athletes.

A massive thank you to and for making this clinic happen on Four Mile Beach!

We will also welcome athletes from and to our beach, which makes for a great opportunity for kids from all of these clubs to get to know each other. Friendships for life is what it’s all about 🫶

If you’re keen to see the action, come to the beach tomorrow (Sunday 7 July) between 9am - 1pm 🤩

Now first dinner at for some much needed nutrition so we can be our best tomorrow 🏄‍♀️

PS. If you’re registered for the clinic, you are invited to join dinner for free tonight. Parents and other siblings/friends will pay for their own dinner. If you’ve missed the RSVP survey for dinner, don’t stress, we’d love to see you tonight!

Was sorry to read that the 43year association with Nutri Grain as a key partner of the professional surf sports racing is over.

Some years back I was contracted to help with some commercial sponsorships for the series. I approached the Sutherland Shire council and gained their support to bring the sport back to a Sydney beach for the first time in many years.

When meeting with the then Mayor I vividly recall him saying…

“I don’t know much about surf lifesaving other than two things, Grant Kenny and the Nutri Grain Series”. It is the Formula 1 sport we can afford and we want it.”

These unique corporate scholarships are open to elite athletes with an interest in the financial services industry.

Pursuing a sporting career can often limit opportunities to prepare for a corporate career after sports. The Macquarie Sports Scholarships aim to support sportspeople with the transition from the sporting arena to the workplace.

The scholarships provide a 10-week paid summer internship within one of Macquarie’s operating groups, along with opportunities to contribute to Macquarie Sports’ programs within the community.

Applications are now open and close on Tuesday 30 July 2024 at 12pm (AEST).

With the support of SLS North Queensland, HYDROTHON supported by and the local government is offering two free clinics to all U9-U17 club members.
The local region suffered significant storms causing flood damage for an extended period during Dec 2023 to Jan 2024.
So, these two are FREE because we want everyone to come along and enjoy a day with some amazing mentors including , and others.
This is the furthest north we have travelled, and we can’t wait to be at the beautiful on the 6-7th July.

Sportwell will be suppoting Nathan Smith and Port Douglas Surf Life Saving Club by assisting with the deliveriy of the All BOYS Surf Sports Clinic to be held on the same weekend as the Hydrothon All Female Clinic at Port Douglas on Sunday 7th July.

All boys age U9-U17 are welcome to register for this FREE event where you will get expert tips on surf racing from one of the best in the business Nathan Smith.

A FREE dinner will also be provided at the surf club for all participants at Port Douglas Surf Club.

Our appreciation goes to the Far North Coast Queensland SLS Branch for supporting this intitative.

To celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2024, Macquarie Sports will be sponsoring a high-profile sportsperson to visit one primary school in each state or territory.

LIFESAVER DIES IN SURF Line Fouled - AGAIN

Another surf lifesaver was drowned yesterday when seaweed fouled his line. He is the second to die in this way in two months. He was James Peryman, 24, captain of the North Cronulla Surf Club, who lost his life while trying to save a 16-year-old girl in a heavy surf at North Cronulla.

He reached the girl about 400 yards from the shore and was about to bring her in when his line became entangled in the seaweed. When pulled out of the surf he was unconscious and doctors on the spot failed to revive him. St. George District Ambulance took him to hospital where he was placed in an iron lung, but with no success.

His father, the Manager of the Commonwealth Bank at Cronulla, arrived while lifesavers and ambulance men were trying to save his life.

On this day 10years ago, Hydrothon held its first event at Cronulla Beach.

50+ events later, we’re still doing what we can to inspire healthy lives and to support and unite communities.

Thank you to the pioneers that took the line on the 8th Sept 2013, the sponsors, the clubs, the athletes, parents, ambassadors and volunteers who have helped keep Hydrothon going.

But most importantly my family for allowing me to spend time on this stuff.
