"Truth Be Told" this guy (unbeknownst to him haha) has taken my own experiences and articulated it in a podcast..This is the dark side of entrepreneurship, which is seldom spoken about.. It seems that social media only focuses on the end results and not the trenches you go through in order to get through the journey and where you are today..
I am forever grateful that I have a life partner, friend and business partner and my beautiful children who (now) understand the highs and lows of running a small business..Who have all stuck it out even when they wanted to throw the towel in, even when I seemed to be neglecting their needs to try to build something from scratch for our future..You all stuck it out and here we are almost 7 years together going strong..
Traditional cultural expectations whereby the woman 'should be' the home maker and wife cooking and cleaning at home have all been exhausted since starting Claremont ..Initially ( I won't lie ) it did somewhat hinder the earlier days of the entrepreneurship journey but with God's Grace soon changed momentum as our own expectations of eachother as man and wife grew in a more positive light. As we began to do away with traditional expectations and have a better understanding and a new found respect for eachothers dreams and aspirations..
This journey together as a family of entrepreneurship has been one of mixed emotions of excitement, sacrifices, many tears and tantrums haha, many death stares and unforgivable tongue lashings but most important of all we have come out stronger and have learnt an invaluable lesson of kindness and speaking words of love even through the most challenging times, we always try to remember to only speak love..

Who could have imagined over 12 years ago or so as we all sat down together, laughed, and interacted away, there would be such a time like this??
Whereby we would be contacted by your family to create a send off for you..With whom we once sat down together at the same table😭😭
The news of your life cut short was even more devastating for us because once upon a time, we all shared many stories and laughed so hard together..
All the while creating this, for you, although our hearts were aching, we sure felt your presence..

🔵🔵🔵FUN FACT🔵🔵🔵 As stated by so called 'expert' (aerodynamics) theories, which may have been adequately demonstrated through wind tunnel experiments, DID YOU KNOW the bumblebee is apparently unable to fly. For the reason that, due to the size, weight, and shape of its body in relation to the total wingspread, which in theory makes flying impossible.
🔴🔴🔴Defying all the odds and 'scientific' theories, the bumblebee does in fact fly and not only forwards, sideways, and in reverse but it can also fly to amazing altitudes..I know right!! Pretty COOL!!

WHY A STORE FRONT IS NOT FOR EVERYONE....
HERE'S WHY IT'S NOT FOR US🔽🔽
Dont get me wrong this has been a constant thought in our minds for a few years, and we have come to the conclusion that at this point in our business journey having a store front will not serve us as a family and as a business..
HOW IT SERVES US NOW WITHOUT A SHOP FRONT.
1. Working with and around our children is most important. (Readily available most times for them when in need).
2. It is easier (I believe) to shut off at the end of the day and resume when convenient for our time.
3. Can take continuous amounts of time off from the business if we so desire.
4. A little more flexibility with our time as a family and / or business time.
5. Lower overhead costs.
6. Better control of workload (as in be able to choose which events are for us and those which are not).
7. There is no need for replenishing displays to attract people inside.
The main thing we have learnt is that at this point in time, we are not requiring a store front to be successful in this industry..Yes sure its appealing and exciting and there are MANY great benefits too and a higher risk and responsibilities that come with it (i will say)for having a store front BUT if it's not serving your current situation then it's OKAY to stay content with not having a store front.
What I will say is that what I believe is crucial in taking on larger events is to ensure you have some sort of storage/warehouse to store away your large items/props.. That I believe is a MUST!!.
SOO remember, having a store front is not for everyone..AND it's perfectly fine not to have one doesn't make you less successful or vice versa..BUT what I will reiterate is that storage/warehouse for your large ticket items are KEY...

For example, at a young age, brothers are considered to be subordinate to their sisters, and typically, there is an expectation upon the eldest daughter to be a leader. This attitude is taught from a very young age. Another example, boys and girls are traditionally raised separately to adhere to the brother's requirement to respect (faka’apa’apa) and avoid (faka’ehi’ehi) his sister. It is considered tapu (taboo) for any male that has passed puberty to be in the same room with his sister or girl cousins alone. In modern times though, Western influences or anga fakapālangi (Western way) have altered the degree to which this taboo affects some Tongan families.
The ideology of sisters having a higher position than men often gives young women a strong sense of their identity as Tongan women. Attitudes of gender equality in Tonga continues through the symbolic honouring of women through rank and the material honouring of men through land inheritance.

Culture (from the Latin cultura deriving from colere, meaning "to cultivate") is an umbrella term that generally refers to patterns of human activity and the symbolic structures that give such activities significance and importance.
Culture can be defined as a way of life, beliefs, values, rituals, and systems of belief of a population that are passed down from generation to generation.
Tongans are proud of their customs and attitudes, which bind them together as a people. Basic values and virtues are constantly reinforced in Tongan society. Virtues such as -
□ ANGA'OFA : LOVING NATURE.
□ FAKA'APA'APA : REVERENCE & RESPECT.
□ MAMAHI'I ME'A : ENTHUSIASM & TEAM SPIRIT OF ANY WORTHY CAUSE.
□ LOTO TOO : A READY & WILLING MIND.
□ TAUHI VAHA'A : KEEPING GOOD RELATIONS AMONGST ONES FELLOW COUNTRY PERSONS.
These virtues are still very much consistent and characteristically Tongan & reinforced by many ritual performances important to our society even today..

As I reflect upon my own personal experience.. Our bespoke service that we provide is truly close to my heart...As I had searched for such a service to honour the life of my dear beloved father (back in 2012) & my beloved mother (in 2015) when they had been called into God's kingdom..
At the time, I had yearned for it, yet I could not find these services available to me and my siblings..
After losing my parents, I was inspired.. I had envisaged being able to bestow the gift of being able to create long lasting memories for the families and friends left behind to carry on... Unbeknownst to me, this was already mapped out for me as my calling..
Fast forward to today, my heart profoundly warms as I am now able to provide these services (that was missing for me and my siblings) for families whom wish to send off their loved ones in the best way they see fit and be able to pay their respects with family and friends for the life of their loved one..
Tongan funerals today are still very much a traditional affair and an integral part of Tongan culture. It can be as elaborate or as simple as the family desires.
Although we mourn the loss of a beloved, it is also a time for not only family and friends of the deceased, to gather together to pay their respects, but it also provides an opportunity for others to offer support and great love to the family left behind.

It's bc this IS the way we choose to do business (which is best for all and in the long run).. Because DID YOU KNOW?? When you saturate the market with cheap props to sell to the general public, do you know that YOU are KILLING THE INDUSTRY?!!! Especialllllly when selling it FOR CHEAP!!...
THINK ABOUT IT When you flood the market annnnd for a cheap price, it leaves the industry less in demand bc you have fully stocked it... If you are supplying to the market with cheap props to purchase, why would they require hiring of props anymore?? Either they would re sell after their use of it (as majority only need it once) to get their money's worth back or even sell for more and make a small profit OR start up their own prop hire business..
It's totally different if you are selling at a price that's reasonable, and then maybe the demand would be less bc it's at a fair price everyone and anyone would not be jumping to go purchase it..Selling custom made props at almost cost price or next to nothing (or for a small marginal profit) iiiiis insanely CRAZZYYYYYY!!! THERE... I've said it!!!!!
Especially knowing how hard we work in this industry and crazy working hours involved to meet deadlines, time and effort it takes to fabricate the custom made props annnnd also not forgetting mostly leaving our loved ones behind for hours on end (if you arent lucky enough to work with your loves)...WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?????? Knowing all the above???? Is it just to make a quick buck or two????
Selling custom props to the market at a very cheap price not only undermines you as a business but eventually it will start to filter through the industry and affect eeeeevvvvveryoneeeee..
