This is my extended family on my hubby's side. We've never actually managed to get all of us together at our little farm at the same time. But we all made the effort and somehow made it happen.
This little patch of 40 acres somewhere past Goulburn holds an immense level of sentimental value for Iva (my mum-in-law), Hana (my sis-in-law) and my hubby George. Iva and her late husband bought the property back in 1985; back then it was nothing but bare earth. It's remote; no kitchen, no water or electricity, nor phone or internet reception. They planted trees, built the cabin themselves, built a fireplace to cook on and created a little haven to escape the rat race. Many weekends have been spent since then from when Hana and George were kids, through to now when the cousins have also been able to grow up and experience this very unique remote and sometimes harsh little place.
In summer it's as dry and dusty and hot as Hades, and in winter, bitterly cold with sub zero temperatures! But we get drawn back there again and again. There's room to ride dirt bikes and a creek to cool off in (if you're keen to brave the eels and the yabbies)! Most of all there's space to think and just be.
In all it's simplicity, it's pretty special. Very pleased we've finally etched it into the family photo history forever. This one will have a very special place on the wall. 💕❤️
