Barossa Merlot is a phrase that is slowly being forgotten, with only a small handful of vignerons still producing a single varietal. The Resident Artist from Rosenvale Vineyards follows the classic 'St Emilion' style with only the soil showing the nuances of the Barossa. Sweet fruit perfume shows aromas of Black plum, raspberry, violet and toasted nut and dried herb. The soft silky palate and fine tannin structure give a long and lengthy finish.

Dark fruit shine through with notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry and bloodplum, dark chocolate, espresso, liquorice, woody herbs and fine cedary oak giving this wine multiple layers of complexity. Well balanced acidity and firm fine-grained tannins give structure and a velvety mouthfeel and exceptional length of flavour. There is only one word for this wine and it is in the name.

The reputation of Sagrantino is proceeded by its powerful tannin structure, however the core of the fruit in this Mitolo Ourea Sagrantino shines through with blackcurrant, redcurrant and mulberry. Cocoa, clove and mace hints flow through to a very tight acid line and fine wet slate texture proving that Sagrantino is not for the feint of heart.
