How long does it take to design a wedding bouquet?
When I was a baby designer, I had no idea what went into creating a seemingly simple wedding bouquet.
It looked like magic, the way florists just effortlessly pulled together the stems and made it look perfect from every angle.
Turns out, it’s not magic.
It’s practice.
Hours and hours of practice. 😋
And, it turns out there’s so much that goes on behind the scenes in prepping for a wedding.
When it comes to planning + designing a wedding bouquet, the whole process typically takes two weeks.
Crazy, right?
Here’s a breakdown of the steps we follow, after the colour palette has been finalised and payment has been received:
🌸 Talk to the wholesalers + growers about what’s available
🌸 Plan the final recipe + ingredients
🌸 Place the flower order (minimum 5 days ahead of time)
🌸 Flowers are delivered to our studio
🌸 Flower prep + processing
🌸 Quality check on each stem
🌸 Design
🌸 Ribboning
🌸 Packaging
🌸 Delivery
Sometimes, we also need to plan even further in advance if we’re sourcing unique ingredients or specialist colours.
Or if we’re using garden roses or peonies cause those little babies need extra time to open up and look super lush and full on the big day.

We’ve got heaps of tools and tips to help you make the most of your wedding flower budget, know what flowers are in season for your wedding and practical guide to planning your wedding on the Mid North Coast and beyond.

Dahlia season has come to and end and I’m missing these beauties already. I’m grateful that we don’t have them all year round though, because it makes their season even more special 💫 “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease” Genesis 8:22
Blue, bows and blooms, and we’re here for it!

Rockstars, Rachal and Aaron, were so chilled in the face of a freak cyclonic weather event that hit just 10 mins before their ceremony and without warning… actually, the storm warning came after the storm was all over. They stayed calm and relaxed while all the vendors worked like a dream, pulled out all the stops and created a magically memorable wedding day!

Beautiful Rachal was the most chilled bride in the face of a freak cyclonic weather event, who held on to the very wise words of .stewart.makeupartist who said ‘that no matter what happens, if you end up married at the end of the day, it’s been a successful day’. All the vendors worked like a dream, pulled out all the stops and created a magically memorable day! Thank you Kaidee for capturing this moment so masterfully

Forget trends, you do you! … I don’t mean that in a passive aggressive way, it’s just that ‘trends’ come and go. Even trends that are questionable, push the boundaries ‘good taste’ and stick around too long (a-hem 🐊), are still fleeting when compared to a lifetime.

Make your day about you.

Because it is.

We embrace individuality in lieu of trends, appreciate timeless design and look to nature for inspiration.

Getting married isn’t about creating a trending Insta extravaganza. It’s the joining together of two unique individuals, to love each other forever. Now that’s something to celebrate!!!

You Do You.

If you choose to mark the occasion by wearing a hand painted couture gown with puff sleeves, we’re here for it!

You want row away in a timber boat at sunset brimming with fragrant sweet peas? Fabulous!

Plan on kicking it 80s style by treating your guests to an all you can eat banquet at the Jin Hong Chinese Restaurant with a fried Ice-cream wedding cake tower for dessert? So fun!

Whatever your style, we’ve got your back… and flowers too.

We can easily feel detached from nature in our busy tech-filled world. The simple act of tying a silk and floral wrist corsage around your Mum or Nannas wrist on your wedding day is a beautiful moment of luxury. Luxury, because you slow down. You connect through the tactile and heartfelt gesture. You breathe in the fragrance of the flowers and notice the intricate details. You gain a fresh perspective. That’s true luxury. And that’s the art of floral design. 🌸 📷
Bouquets and ceremony floral arrangements featured a mix of locally grown flowers, native flora and imported premium roses. Buttonholes were handcrafted using dried florals 🤍 🤍 of.rosie

I get asked this question a lot! And, for good reason. If you don’t work with flowers or grow flowers, it’s hard to know what is in season, and when, especially when grocery store flowers (the flowers you probably see most often) seem to stock the same flowers year round. Like apples, you can buy one every day of the year, but when are they actually in season? Tastiest? Juiciest? Freshest? I wouldn’t have a clue. I’d have to Google. Flowers are the same. So, I’ve put this together so you can have a visual guide of the types of flowers that will be in season for your wedding. Pictured in white but available in many colors 🎨
Georgia and Jaydon were married surrounded by family, friends and flowers at Wallalong House in the Hunter Valley. .rolla
Timeless. Classic. Elegant. These words get thrown around like a lump of dough on international pizza day, but Georgia and Jaydon were the personification of these three words on their wedding day at Wallalong House 🤍
Georgia and Jaydon were married surrounded by family, friends and flowers at Wallalong House in the Hunter Valley. Their ceremony feature was created using white urns filled with locally grown, seasonally available flowers, and custom made timber plinths. It was repurposed for their reception and elegantly welcomed guests into the Indian Tent, ready to dance the night away. .rolla
I was asked a brilliant question by a bride enquiring about her upcoming wedding in February! QUESTION: What do natives flowers that are available in Summer actually look like? So, I got to work and created a picture guide of favourite Australian natives in every season.

Baby it’s warm, and it’s got me thinking about Colour Temperature R E A D >>> When I was studying design at National Art School in Darlinghurst, one of my favourite days of the week was Colour Theory day 🤓⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our lecturer told of her colour eccentric friend who had a smorgasbord of bonds underwear in every colour available, that would strategically select her un**es in order to balance out her mood or experience of the day. For example, if she was feeling a bit down or depressed, she’d whip on a pair of bright sunny yellow briefs. If it was predicted to be a scorching 40 degree day, she’d choose an icey cool grey little number.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She was taking colour theory, mixing it with psychology plus meteorology and applying it to her person in an extreme sport kind of fashion. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is truth to be found, though, amongst the crazy! Colour has the ability to create a feeling of warmth or cool, and can change a mood or ambience. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re getting married outdoors in the hotter months, consider using cool colours to adjust the visual temperature down a few notches. If an old stone building is the chosen location for your winter nuptials, bringing warm tones into your colour scheme will help to evoke a lovely feeling of warmth.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our bold warm colour palette used for Rebecca and Tom’s wedding happily became the perfect antidote for their rainy day nuptials at The Green Cathedral.
