Looking to employ a general laboror/ farm hand for IMMEDIDATE START for seasonal work
Binz Nursery is a well established 100 acre Strawberry Runner and Hydrangea Farm in Toolangi. We are seeking to employ a new members to our team for a casual contract position during our harvest season specifically for driving a tractor during harvest season. We have currently filled 2 of our spots, we need 1 more spot filled.
Harvest season starts on first week of April this year and finishes when all of the strawberry runners have been harvested. This varies largely on the weather, but generally harvest season lasts for 4- 5 months, but can drag out longer if the weather is poor.
We currently now only have 1x position left available paid under the 2023 Horticulture Award
General Laborer/ Farm Hand - Crop Packer
This position involves general laboring and with loading the strawberry runner trailers from the harvester (which collect the crop). This is a pshyical job & would really suit a fit & healthy individual of any age.
There is potential if this person to get tractor driving experience. If they already do, they can rotate with the other tractor drivers on who is doing trailer and who Is driving the harvester/tractor etc. There is also potential for this person to be hired full time after harvest.
The successful applicant will be hired on a seasonal part time contract specifically for harvest season. Your contract will end once harvest season is finished which maybe September 2023
Because of the nature of the work, rostered days and hours vary greatly. Flexibility and being available for overtime and weekend work is an absolute must.
We work as a small team, so we require all hands on deck during this time of year. Because harvest season relies purely on the weather being right in order for us to be harvesting our crops, it does mean some weeks you may be working 6 - 7 days a week and others only 1-2 days a week. This is completely out of our control. But you will be given as much notice as possible when you will be needed to work. On average though the work is 38/hrs+ per week.
Your base rate of pay will be $26.73/hr for the first 3 months as a level 1 casual. Then will be moved up to $27.46/hr for Level 2. This is being paid under the current Horticultural Award and obviously includes superannuation.
Overtime is also paid at $37.42/hr for level 1 and $38.45/hr for a level 2 over 38/hrs as well as public holiday pay rate at $48.11/hr for level 1 and $49.43/hr for level 2.
Job requirements for farm hand are:
🔷️ MUST have a drivers license as there is no public transport up here
🔷️ Must be prepared to do overtime & weekend work
🔷️ If you're on a working visa, it must be current and not expire before September 2023
🔷️ Needs to live in travel distance as there is Not Accommodation on site
🔷️ Works well in team & unsupervised
🔷️ Reliable, punctual & have good time management.
