Hank our big male southern koala was in a vocal mood today. When I picked him up for his weekly weigh in he started singing in my ear.
May be he was excited for the last days of work and school.
This is normal behaviour for male koalas. They make this pretty intimidating noise when trying to impress the females and announce their presence and their territory.
Not our normal gig but it was a fun day working along side some young legends at their school mission day fund raiser.

Ever found these washed up on the beach and wondered what they are…

Victoria’s largest frog species and they are critically endangered. Luckily there are still a few safe and flourishing populations in the south west of the state. Let’s hope it can stay that way and they can start to move back into some locations they were previously inhabiting. Some of the biggest threats.
1. Habitat loss & fragmentation
2. habitat pollution
3. Chytrid fungus
4. Predation from pet & feral cats
Frogs are environmental indicators and can be signs of a healthy pollution free environment. This frog species being one of the largest is a great indicator of a healthy and diverse wetland ecosystem.
These are 4 simple things you can do to help support and encourage frogs in your back yard.
1. Make a frog friendly pond planted with local indigenous water plants.
2. Don’t use harmful herbicides & pesticides
3. Use environmentally friendly biodegradable washing detergents, window cleaners ect.
4. Keep pet cats indoors
