Giddy UP! Derby Day is almost here 🏇💃

The final touches on this event are almost complete, we are excited to welcome you into Flinders Lane on Saturday.

🐎 some key info for our guests 🐎

⏰ DOORS OPEN at 11:30am
🎟️ Have your ticket available on your phone for scanning
🍷 Upon entry, you’ll receive your welcome drink ticket.
✨ Event concludes at 6pm, head across to City Lane to continue on into the evening.

🍻 There will be bars setup throughout the venue for you to purchase drinks - both CASH and CARD will be accepted.

🍽️ Food will be roving throughout the venue from 12pm through to 4pm, if you have noted a DIETARY REQUIREMENT on booking your ticket, please make yourself known upon entry so we ensure that you are catered for correctly.

There is no allocated seating, we encourage you to rove throughout the venue & enjoy our various activations. There are plenty of tables & chairs throughout the venue.

We will be conducting SWEEPS for races throughout the day, please bring cash on the day for these, head to The Manhattan area for this. You will require a betting app for LIVE betting on the horse races should you wish have a punt. Races will be displayed on TV’s throughout the venue, in The ManHattan area the races will be projected onto the large screen and all races played WITH VOLUME, this will be a great area to gather to watch the races throughout the day.

DJ Zazza from Brothas Entertainment will be bringing the vibe from the main stage in The Laneway, and we will have a designated dance space so make sure you get ready to boogy 💃

📸 Doug Simpson Media will be roving throughout the venue to ensure we capture all the FUN. The 360 Photobooth will be setup from 1:30 to 4:30, hopefully you won’t need too much convincing to get on that 😉

WHAT TO WEAR?? I want everyone to be comfortable. Derby Day is traditionally BLACK AND WHITE 🖤🤍, so please stick with that option, however if you wish to wear RACE ATTIRE or SMART CASUAL I am happy with both these choices - ultimately I want people to be comfortable.

The inaugural Sew Good Workshop - PAINT, DESIGN, CREATE

On September 14 and 15, Flinders Lane had the pleasure of providing the venue for the inaugural Sew Good event, hosted by good humans Robin Strang The Madhatter, artist Anna Mango Artist and designer Vicki Saylor. The event was created to foster an inclusive and welcoming space where creativity could thrive, and we were thrilled to support their inspiring initiative.

Participants engaged in a two-day workshop filled with painting, designing, and creating wearable art. From custom canvas designs to unique clothing pieces, the atmosphere hummed with creativity and connection. The Sew Good initiative focuses on benefiting members of the community who face physical and mental challenges, emphasising the healing and transformative power of art. With intentionally small group sizes, participants received valuable time with artists and designers while forming meaningful connections with each other.

We can't wait to see the amazing results from this collaboration. Stay tuned for the unveiling in The Madhatter's Courtyard this November!

Things have changed a little around here. Flinders Lane has been revised and reimagined and is now even better, with more to come.

Our locally owned and operated venue is dedicated to sharing stories and creating memories. We offer an inner-city experience where everyone is welcome, with the only requirement being that you are a good human.

"How did they do it?" You might remember the old Discount Jeans store and the old Sportspower building next door. In its place now stands Flinders Lane. We are a fully licensed venue offering five distinct spaces dedicated to hosting events, community activations, and celebrations, from corporate functions to incredible weddings, vibrant festivals, inspiring community programmes, and everything in between.

If you are a good human, we hope that you will celebrate with us and join us in making Flinders Lane the destination for celebrating all that is good and all that Townsville and the North Queensland region have to offer.

Introducing The Parlour, the newest Flinders Lane space, available for exclusive hire.

Last night, we had the pleasure of hosting our industry friends and peers for whisky and wine in The Parlour. We also decided to open our doors to anyone visiting Flinders Street so they, too, could experience the reimagined Flinders Lane.

This incredible, versatile cocktail lounge for up to 80 is equipped with high-end furnishings, an expansive bar and tables that descend from the ceiling, transforming it into a seated dining space for up to 50. It is available for exclusive hire for events and functions. We will also be hosting our own events here, we look forward to sharing more details very soon.

While we are not open to the general public every day or every weekend, we will be open again this evening from 5pm until late for those wanting to get a taste of The Parlour.
