Bowls Queensland would like to pass on a sincere thank you to all those who took part in the recent 2026 BQ Pennant Survey. Your feedback has been important in shaping the direction of this competition.
After reviewing the responses of the survey, ๐ณ๐ฑ% ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฝ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฌ๐๐ฆ to support the overall proposal to move to an open gender pennant model for Division 1, 2 & 3 statewide.
Based on this result, the Bowls Queensland Board and State Match Committee have confirmed the ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฒ ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ป๐ป๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป will run in an ๐ข๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ format from Division 1 downward. The format will include three State Pennant Finals for Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3.
Open Gender means teams can be made up of men, women, or a mix of both. Teams in each division will compete with 12 players per team, across 3 rinks of Fours, over 21 ends.
Districts will be able to nominate which division will be considered their top division. This nomination should be made based on club feedback within each district and will be guided by recommendations from the Bowls Queenslandโs Match Committee.
The aim is to ensure every club across Queensland has a clear pathway and the opportunity to be represented within the pennant structure, boosting inclusivity, growing participation and broadening the reach of our sport.
