Vendor friends and being kind..

So it's that busy time of year for everyone. And our resilience may be a little lower, our energy levels may be depleted and it's all too much at times..

We all work differently, we are often set in our ways and we like things, how we like things.

BUT..

At the end of the day, we are working for the couple..
We have to be able to adapt to different styles of work. We need to be flexible, to be calm and to learn to love to work in and go with the flow.

You can do this by staying in your own lane too and just trusting that we all know what we are doing and we are doing our best!

So this is your reminder to love your vendor friends..this is your reminder to take a breath and remember why we do what we do..
And this is your friendly reminder that it's ok to have a little breather, have that drink..take that seat and reset when you need it!

I love my wedding industry peeps and I am so thankful to be able to work with talented folks on the weekends. Some days, it just doesn't feel like work at all!

On the couch°

Sitting down on that cute little pink couch with Kate last weekend and having a chat about her journey was such a beautiful honour.
Her story is one of strength, determination and a "I'm not taking this s**t" kind of attitude.

*At the age of twenty-seven, Kate’s was diagnosed with an aggressive stage 3 breast cancer. Her never give up attitude was very clear from the beginning and she won her battle. Five years after her diagnosis Kate’s husband Bob was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma and once again, they rode the rollercoaster that is cancer.

But Kate’s biggest battle came in 2023 when she was diagnosed with B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Once again, she was on the rollercoaster that is cancer, but this fight was brutal and took every inch of energy and hope she could muster to beat it.*

Kate gives a real account of how hard it can be and she doesn't sugar coat anything. But she also has this beautiful outlook on how we can and perhaps should live, even in the hard times; there can be beauty.

I could have chatted to her for hours, there were times when I forgot we had a hundred + people sitting there in the room with us.

Diving deep into her MC / Host Era..

For seven years, I have been a marriage celebrant.
For six and a half years, I have been a funeral celebrant.

And for the last few years I have dabbled into MC'ing events. This last 12 months has seen more opportunities arise in both the private and corporate sectors..

And I must say, I am LOVING IT!

Being able to work alongside some amazing people, raising funds, hosting parties, throwing Christmas events and potentially some award ceremonies, this is a whole other side to life behind a mic.

So thanks to everyone who continues to stay in my corner and helps me along the way.

Mr & Mrs Alexander °

A crush that began way back when, it wasn't until they grew a little older and bonded over their ACL reconstructions that this little love story blossomed.

Now, they're almost half way to becoming parents and building their dream life together.
Up in the fresh bush air, with their loved ones gathered, we laughed and smiled till our cheeks hurt.
At the end of our little ceremony, Gabrielle & Lachlan became Husband and Wife.

What a beautiful celebration this was. So so happy for you two and your families. You are delightful!

As if this hitching wasn't going to be glorious with this girl at the forefront.
Such a magical day to be part of, was the day Brittany married Conor..

Short and sweet, personal vows, the most stunning venue, magical food, drinks, the atmosphere and the love they were surrounded with - everything was just stunning!

After a good old Instagram stalk, Conor "accidentally" liked one of Britt's OLD posts, so it was safe to say she knew he'd been trawling..
From here; their love blossomed and since then, they've been creating magic as the best little team alongside their fur babies Winston & Walter..

The BAKKER'S °

Oh their 15th anniversary in the company of their beautiful humans, we got them hitched!

The brief was short, sweet, fun and no bull. I think it's safe to say we nailed it!
The love story, the vows, the tears shed and the laughs had; were so delightful.

The reception was incredible! The speeches, perfection - what a way to celebrate love in the midst of winter.

Tash and Matt, you compliment one another so wonderfully. You have raised the most magnificently balanced humans and you know how to celebrate in style, well done you.

Random act of kindness bunches°°

THEY'RE BACK BABY!!

It's back on Tgon.. With permission from the families I work with, I am again repurposing funeral flowers.
I was doing this last year and the year before in a different way, but had a little hiatus from it.

In the meantime, my wonderful friends at Gippsland Printers gifted some cards for me to use when I am dropping them around town.
The family name is ALWAYS on the card.
These are the casket flowers from on top of the coffin, not flowers they have been gifted.

Once the service is over, I take the flowers to my soul Sistas at .by.bell and they bunch them up for me. Then myself and sometimes my little ones walk around town and leave them in random spots.. (today it'll be the plaza, cause well it's winter).
If you see a bunch, please take them.

THEY GET SO MUCH JOY FROM IT.

It's such a lovely way to spread love and kindness..please see and receive it as just that..

After starting this, I have also seen other family's and funeral homes, directors taking it on, which is so great.
If they aren't dropped around town, I usually take them to Nursing Homes or Hospitals..

After over seven years of hitching lovers, there are times where it still feels like I'm overcome with nerves.
It isn't because I am not confident in my abilities, because its always a good time; it's because in every way I want your ceremony to be the BEST experience it can be.

I take an extreme amount of pride in the way I show up for you. From the outfit choices, to my hair, make up, the way my view cards look and how seamlessly I fit into the aesthetic of your day. But all that comes with pressure.
Is it worth it? In every possible way, yes it is!

I'm still pinching myself that I'm over seven years in..

Even after so many years in front of a camera, the minute it is pointed at my face and in aware, I suddenly produce a shot like this..

I describe it as a bloody good time..

This is such a good representation of G&H's hitching..The ceremony was so much fun..It was heartfelt, hilarious and just magic. One of those ceremonies where we just lent into all the feels and rolled with it..

NOT YOUR AVERAGE MC°

When you ask me to stick around and MC your wedding, I'm not just going to announce you into the reception and then take control of formalities, I'm going to do SO MUCH MORE!

At this here wed, I was Celebrant, MC, Medication dispenser, Blanket finder, water getter, Vibe checker, reassurance, snuggler, Hype girl and so much more.

Would I do it again? IN A HEARTBEAT!! I would have done more could I have.

I love my couples and if there is anything I can do to make your day / night to smoothly, then you can bet your SWEET A I'm down!

°°didn't get sick myself°°

It isn't just about being good on a mic and being able to wrangle a crowd. It's about making sure you are taken care of. It's about ensuring things that are within our control remain that way.
And it's about making the two of you feel like I did everything I could to help..
